  1. Have Pegasus parts stopped trading? I can't find their website, and I'd like to buy a starting dog crank bolt for a 2.5 petrol.
  2. It is very tidy. I think it's quite in keeping with the rest of the vehicle.
  3. I think it depends on the paint. If the paint is immaculate, flat and a red or a white, then, sure. Even yellow might work. Otherwise. No.
  4. YRM solutions, I think, for these panels.
  5. Any chance of a link, I've not seen these, and they sound great!
  6. I've just had a look and, they are very dirty, but, side from one crack in the back of the middle seat, quite intact and sound. The metal work does need a lot of surface rust removing. Almost a shame to recover them...
  7. I'd rather not use eBay, bad experiences. Honestly, if they ARE historically interesting I'd prefer that they went to a project, than me hacking them about. That is, if I could swap for less interesting later seats. Should I put them on the "For sale" section with the price as being newer equivalents?
  8. The plan is: heated seats, mirrors, and screens. I spent too much time in the cold when I was younger, I've no desire to be cold ever again. Then there is the fridge, the auxiliary battery, quite possibly a winch, H4 main beams, and so forth. So, yes, high output would be a good upgrade. But low hassle, which is why the ACR is appealing. Drop in fit. What were the Bosch alternators fitted to? It will be eBay, as I'm quite time poor these days, so the scrapie is out.
  9. The loom will be beefed up to suit, don't fear. Will the K1 fit the series engine? There is an advantage to keeping it standard, parts available and all that, but, I'm willing to consider other units.
  10. I'll be recovering them, and as most re-cover sets are for newer seats I expect to have to improvise. I don't think the plastic backs will survive, for example. I just thought I'd check before ripping them.
  11. I'm looking for a good quality going output alternator for a (almost - 2.5 petrol in a lightweight) series 3 petrol. Autosparks are charging a lot for a high output version of the Lucas, are there better value options? A cheapie costs about £80 or so but, no.
  12. It's very good, but the ZG90 is easier to use, aerosol, dries in minutes, and is less brittle, I think. The aerosol is more even than brushing the galvafroid.
  13. Morning, I've a set of 110 front seats, with the plastic back, the early type. Brown. I was going to rebuild them for my lightweight project, which would mean that they might get hacked about, but before I do, do they have any value to anyone doing a 110/90 restoration? I just don't want to mess up something of interest.
  14. Agreed, though I'd not be able to use the oil bath if I went that route.
  15. Interesting thread. My next job on the lightweight is to build up a 2.5 petrol with modern engine management. ACR will feature prominently. I'm told the engine already has a Power plus head, but I'm looking at a high torque cam, single-point injection and electronic spark, high flow manifold and exhaust. I don't know what CR the engine is at the moment. So I'll cross that when I get to it. Air box will be an oil bath, as I really prefer them for naturally aspirated engines.
  16. Is that a 1 tonne chassis? My 109 with standard petrol gearing feels slightly uncomfortable at 60, tested against GPS (waze on the phone). At this speed you can have a conversation, albeit with slightly raised voices. This TDi 200 has a performance head from Turner, a performance IP from Diesel Bob, and defender turbo on a disco engine. It has a cheapo air filter cone (horrid thing), and a roof rack and is running on BP ultimate. The intercooler is a Chinese "performance" eBay special form a Fabia RS. I've lined the bulkhead and bonnet with building materials (Flashband) as I see no difference from bitumen from a builders merchants and bitumen from an expensive car audio supplier at 10 times the price.
  17. Is that a C section type chassis? I wonder if they do a 109 series 3 version?
  18. I want it to look reasonably original, but be really capable and very reliable. And " go anywhere " to include city centre. So petrol, fuel injected, and maybe even with catalytic converter! Which reminds me, I must order the updates for the engine.
  19. I think the consensus emerging on the topic of the Chinese heaters is that the units themselves are safe. They are well engineered, as they are a copy of a decent device. The accessories are variable in quality. I'm tempted. I must admit. Not just the cost, but the hassle of finding a second hand genuine unit that works without canbus would really get to me. It's been a long time since I went to a scrappy, I must be getting lazy.
  20. Can't hear as am at work. Is the engine cold? Mine is quite rattly until it's good and warm.
