That's a great idea - presumably you will compile and publish the results back here? When I get my new tyres - I'll join in, but since I have no idea of what mileage the current set are, or what tread depth they had at the start, I think that my info would be pretty useless

Best of luck with it and with Stratstone - as was said higher up - it's unforgivable that they should deliver a vehicle in that condition. I think that (if possible) I would be looking for them to take the vehicle back - after all - will you trust them to make the repairs to a decent quality?

The cause? Anyones guess, but one scenario that I have seen is a valve that must've caught on something (the dust cap had gone and there were marks up the stem). I had a slow leak somewhere and when I checked I found that although this valve looked ok, but when I moved it around to check it there was a hissing if I pulled it 'outwards'. It turned out that the valve rubber was split nearly half way through at the base where it goes through the rim... I think in time or at speed it might well have come away completely... One situation where a spare wins over an electric pump and a bottle of goo!

Keep it for more than 6 years and your total carbon footprint will be lower than if you bought a new Micra every 3, I reckon...
In my case my 17 year old RRC is getting close to 100% recycle material *

* I am currently cutting out the sound bits of the replaced rear cross member to use as patches for the holes in the chassis....
Hi,
My 1990 RRC 3.9efi has a multi-vent tank which I need to replace. I will not be replacing the in-the-wing condenser thing and I have been offered a single vent tank that (apart from the vents) looks the same...
My question is: Are they interchangeable? (ie are the sender unit and pump the same)?

Decathlon do a range of 'throw it and it's up' type tents (IIRC around £30 for a decent size 2-man). Don't know if they are any good, but they are cheap! I'm thinking of getting one to stow in the back of the RRC... Worth a look I reckon

Great feedback DiscoClax - I have been looking at these for a while now for when my RTV RRC (finally) hits the road, but was a little concerned that nobody else in my club has them - I didn't want to be the first to find out that they are not as good as the whatevertheyares that everybody gets cheap from wotsisname...

Sorry - I didn't see this question until now...
Unfortunately I can't get a picture right now, but it has trailing arms (a bit like a Ford Sierra) with enclosed spring/damper units.
I guess that for some people it would be a bit lacking in clearance, but the lower CoG and easier loading more than make up for that in my case.

My guess (assuming no trees or rocks jammed in any of the links) would be internal damage to the box - I can't imagine much else (wear or seizing etc) that would permit anti-clockwise movement to left of centre and normal clockwise movement returning, but would then prevent further clockwise movement to the right of centre...

OT but linked: When I was 10 my dad taught me to drive - in his Co-op Austin truck ( a 3 tonner with a six pot diesel of 3 litres I think). Anyway, one day my foot slipped off the clutch and I stripped some teeth off the crownwheel as above. We had to drive 2 miles to the nearest phone to get recovered... sort of bru-um-WAH-CLANG... bru-um-WAH-CLANG... bru-um-WAH-CLANG... all the way there
Good thing was that in those days I didn't have to pay for things I broke

BTW - higher up reference is made to the fact that ENV are 'still spiral bevel'.. Are Salisbury diffs different?
Hi Nubtoes,
Can't kelp with the dying cat sound since I never had anything new enough to have one
(I could have said that the last cat I heard dying under my motor went "yeeeowllll....THUMP!" but I thought that would be insensitive...)
What context is she a pig? Loves the mud? Is ugly? You hate it? You love it? Consumes too much? Has a curly tail?
Somebody will be along soon to answer your questing in a sensible, informative and mature way - what a shame I got here first
TwoSheds
Maybe it's steeper than it looks, but from the picture, any LR product should romp up that mound - do you perhaps have a lack-of-power problem? (This might account for getting stuck down the lane too)
TwoSheds
Agreed - also there will already be extra restriction on the water flow due to the long pipes to the back - putting two in series would then restrict flow even more - two in parallel would (of course) ease the flow.

* My bit of the above is 'in theory' I have no experience of rear mounted rads...
My vote goes with two days of penetrating oil followed by a lump hammer on a decent impact driver - but here's a tip that has worked for me that nobody has mentioned yet: Sometimes I have found that if you set the impact driver to tighten and give it a good-un it will crack the rust without further damaging the head in the undo direction, after which it's easy.
Failing all of the above methods I once drilled the head off one of these and got away with it...
Best of luck with it
