  1. Bish, Sorry for the delay, I nearly forgot about this.... Stock Rangie springs I have are: Blue : 572315 15.4" 133lb/in Green : NRC2119 16.3" 150lb/in Both of which are probably rather soft for you... like riding on the bumpstops soft The Britpart pair of fronts are 200lb/in and measure 400mm (15.74") free length. Any good for you? If you're still skiving I could drop them up to you this week if you like?
  2. Cover the bottom of it with a load of sticky black underseal and how will they know if it is ali or steel, pop-rivited or welded?
  3. You need the transfer box in neutral when doing this test!
  4. Ah, fair enough, I'm on XP by choice
  5. Odd, I managed a 3 hour log on my Intel Atom 1.6GHz. CPU-d laptop... took a whle to process, but was fine
  6. Fuel pump relay is gold-ish as standard, and has a white/purple feed wire to the pump. TBH, it sounds like you may not be getting power to the ECU, if the FP relay wasn't working, that or the FP relay had died. Check the wiring diagram in the tech archive and work through it
  7. 6-sided 11mm socket and a tommy bar, make sure the force is purely rotational rather than shear -if it shears off then it needed replacing anyways....
  8. You said that 'wires were everywhere' in another post, check that the black with white wire from the AFM connector plug is connected to the coil negative -the ECU needs this as it won't fire fuel in unless it gets a spark signal. Then, check the tech archive for the Hotwire troubleshooting manual
  9. You'll be popping fuses for a pastime then.... I = P/V = 165 / 14 = 12A approx = bye bye 10A fuse.
  10. I'll measure up and post the results up here then
  11. Me too, might bring the tribe as well, is there a limit for ages of kids? I can't remember......
  12. Charles, I have a set of stock Rangie springs (not bad nick), which you are welcome to if you can find a use for them, think they are Red/White and Green/Yellow, but not 100%! I also have 2" lifted Britpart springs, which are 200lb/in, but unsure of unloaded length, but can measure tomorrow if you like?
  13. Yeah but you try getting them on the high street, or even through Paddocks etc... A mate is after some 33 or 35 x 12.5 x 15s and can't find either KM or KM2s for love nor money. Everyone wants to sell him Cooper STTs or worse the Kumho KL71s...
  14. Agreed, mine works very well TBH, on at 85, off at 83 It is slightly better than it being in the top hose, as the temp sender will still heat up even if there's no water in the system, just through conduction through the inlet manifold.
  15. Really you are controlling the temperature of the coolant going back into the engine, ensuring it is low enough to cool it sufficiently -that's how I see it.... Bottom hose for me, that's if I wasn't running Megasquirt and using the coolant temp sender
  16. As KM2 isn't really available properly yet, I would say just 'KM'
  17. Often a 3/8" drive ratchet plug socket will be better, just get a thinwall one and you're fine -My Halfords pro set works fine, even on 1/2", but then I have a magnetic 3/8" plug socket, so use that most of the time
  18. Try squeezing it with a pair of mole grips or g-cramp, if you don't have a vice, might work
  19. Yes it will be fine, maximum power transfer won't happen, but that's only a small problem really.
  20. I'm not sure about this, but you may find other Rangie/Disco crossmembers fit, and will not foul the prop, might be worth groveling under another truck to take a few measurements
  21. I thought all the southdown ones are rated to 3500Kg :s From here: http://www.southdown4x4.co.uk/DetachableTowing.htm
  22. Ebay? They aren't more than about £10 each new, OEM...
  23. If you don't need the lift, fit stock springs and it will probably improve no end, especially if the lift springs are cheapies...
