  1. I found that an Iveco 3.0ltr uses a GT2260V and just happens to bolt directly onto a 200tdi manifold if you drill out the threaded holes to 8mm, turbo sits a little higher than stock but shouldnt cause any issues. I bought this just for the exhaust housing but may build up a 2nd turbo.
  2. Being where you are, i think you need a tin of each .
  3. Many an Aussie has been caught out like this, thats why i have a 20ltr drum of anti-clockwise paint to repaint all my spares.
  4. Old post but thought i'd see how you went with this, i will be up there first weekend of November at Amphitheater.
  5. TDI bottom end is pretty stout , with a VNT you dont need to stress the motor as the turbo just adjusts to requirement.
  6. Ah TD5 inside is who i meant, always get those 2 mixed up.
  7. I think you need to replace the whole housing, the patrol ZD30 uses a similar garret GT2052V turbo as a TD5 but with variable nozzle technology, otherwise the Portuguese mob TD5 alive i think it is sell a hybrid turbo that is a bolt in job for reasonable money.
  8. The solid discs do tend to suffer from heat fade pretty quick when used a lot on steep descents, if its a real problem then fitting vented rotors and defender calipers will help.
  9. Apparently the night before we found him he had swerved to miss a big roo and ended up in the ditch, he wasnt from our group. When we arrived on the scene his old man in his 2wd ute was trying to pull him out with a strap wrapped around his towball.
  10. ok, lets see if this works. https://goo.gl/photos/mVuTgoFVAugXjZ4Z7
  11. If MAF unplugged makes no difference then surely thats the issue ?
  12. Just install a dual battery isolator , much simpler than a 2nd alt.
  13. Time constraints will determine where you should go, distances can be huge but then area's like the Vic high country that DaveW mentioned is reasonably compact. I wouldnt be going to the west unless you have a good amount of time otherwise you will spend most of it driving, again time of year is important as well.
  14. I could but i wanted to post them here to make it easier, any reason why my embedding images wont work ?
  15. I tried adding some pics that i have hosted on my google account but kept getting a message saying the file extension is not allowed , only jpegs ?
  16. Every August a group of Victorian AULRO forum members get together for a spit roast in the bush, Wombat State Park is approx. 1hr NW of Melbourne and for me an easy 1hr15mins towing my camper trailer. Traditionally this weekend is the coldest of our winter with daytime temps of 8-12c and overnight down to -6.7c , this year it was fairly mild with Friday night getting close to 0 and Saturday night a bit warmer like 3-4c. Not really a problem as we have a roaring fire and after a few drinks you dont notice the cold , there are a lot of good varied tracks thru out the area from scenic drives to hard tracks with huge bog holes and steep slippery and muddy hills. Saturday is our trips day in case we get caught on tough tracks or spend too much time recovering vehicles , i didnt get a lot of pics but here are some of what i did get.
  17. I already knew where it failed, core plug at rear of head was leaking although it was a combination of the head, viscous on its way out and partially blocked radiator so the core plug was just the last piece of the puzzle. The removed head is only 2yo so will get it checked and skimmed and sit it on the a shelf in the shed until i can find a cheap short motor to rebuild.
  18. What is the weight of a 101, lighter than a disco or defender i would think. What box is it mounted to, gearing could be all wrong. Would be interested in some photo's of the conversion and 101.
  19. Indeed, went away for the weekend towing my camper trailer thru long hills and didnt miss a beat , plus 6 hours of medium to hard 4wding and the fuel economy has increased a bit.
  20. Yes and being a one off , if it goes tits up its back to the drawing board - probably should use a Ford Cosworth V8.
  21. IAT i would image - inlet air temp.
  22. Various VAG turbos which i believe i read here on the very forum , anything with a T2/T25 flange and of the right size should work. Some will take more adaption than others but nothing a lump of machine steel cant fix.
  23. Hook them up to your auxiliary battery for solar input, accessory powering or for charging your caravan/ camper trailer battery. Good for air compressor's , lights and 12V cookers.
  24. Thought i should provide an update, had my spare head hardness tested then skimmed then fitted a new elring composite gasket and new head bolts. Combined with the new viscous fan clutch and reco'd radiator its running very cool and as smooth as ever (for a tdi ), should be good for another 360K klms.
  25. I would use the disco transfer, i have the same setup , 300tdi auto, running 265/75/16's so about the same size. If it was being used offroad more i would use the Defender 1.4/1 transfer.
