  1. Like Harry Hill would say - theres only one way to settle this....... Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!
  2. Hi Oz. Like you i took the time to double wrap the part of the harness that runs through the chassis. Im pretty sure it will be fine. Funnily enough, the loom itself seemed to pull through relatively unhindered. Cant say the same for the electricians rods.... Phil
  3. Definately dont put it on clean metal. I meant on top of the bonda primer...
  4. Jeez i know most things about the RV8 but dunno that off the top of my head. I can measure for you 2moro if thats any good? Phil
  5. Ah i see. Thanks for the info Ross. I'll be contacting Simon when the time comes... Phil
  6. Just looked through the PP stuff and cant seem to see any pics of a cage with the fared-in lights on the front hoop... Is it maybe a special? Phil
  7. I'll give you a month, no scratch that, 2 weeks and you'll really wish you hadnt.....
  8. Just make sure to use the correct stuff. Ive had brilliant results with bonda zinc primer. Some people may say to use etch primer first - dont. Brush a heavy coat of bonda primer on and let it cure. It sticks like sh*t to a shovel. Then you could do worse than put a few coats of POR-15 chassis paint on. That will leave a very tough coating, though its very glossy. Id just spray some matt black over that. Check the results ive had with it in my build thread... Phil
  9. When the time comes for me to install a rollcage, id quite like to incorporate some lights into the front hoop. I saw one i liked the look of on page 188 of the August edition of LRM. If anyone has this magazine, and happens to know who makes this type of rollcage, id be grateful if they could let me know. I dont think its a product of the company advertising the landrover as they dont make rollcages... Phil
  10. Thanks for your help guys. I got it done in the end. I bought the electricians threaded rods and pushed them through from front to rear. Then pulled loom forwards. As mentioned, getting the plugs through the front hole was entertaining and in the end i had to 'clearance' it a little... Im glad i got it done though because it really is a bulky big harness. Plus i already have the new fuel hoses clipped to the chassis leg so if id done the same with the harness it would have been getting a little 'busy' down there... Phil
  11. Sounds like a win-win Jon. Keeps the smooth RV8. Doesnt have to cut /weld new engine mounts. Could also swap over to the better R380 using original gearbox mounts...
  12. To answer your question gary, i think the gearbox mounts might well be the same but the engine mounts will be different... I know i had to cut the td5 engine mounts off in order to fit the RV8.. Phil
  13. Just wondering if someone has some genius idea of how i can thread my new chassis harness through the chassis. Some folks have said already 'just clip it to outside of chassis....', and i respect their views and reasons, but its just my personal preference to have it inside. I tried pushing some stiff galvy fencing wire through from the front end of the chassis but i seem to be able to get the wire to just rear of the rear shock mounts and then it just snags. Cant get it past this point for love or money... Anyone have any ideas i may have overlooked? Phil
  14. Nooooooooooooooooooooooo Dont fit the oil-burner. You WILL regret it... **hides and waits for incoming shells** Phil
  15. Hope your not referring to me steve. Ive never had an argument with anyone on this forum, and personally couldnt give a monkeys about point-scoring..
  16. Look. Im not an expert - dont pretend to be. Im also not trying to rip anyones product off. I just made a comment that they dont look like 6mm to me. Im sure they are a perfectly good product.. One of the reasons i joined this forum was because (compared to some i could mention) it was friendly, and you could make a comment and get intelligent replies.... It would be nice if we could keep it that way
  17. Because they are only 5mm. Now if only they were 6mm........... Nah, the reason im not buying them is simple I dont need any!
  18. I'll get a grip alright, but it may be of something that stings a little fella....... Im not arguing. I wont be buying any no matter how thick they are - even if there as thick as you...
  19. Thanks for your help Paul. Much appreciated
  20. Come on ralph. Why would i need that on my V8 Nah its for my new fuel pump connector mate..
  21. Paul. Would you happen to have a diagram showing what wire goes where when i get the econoseal connector? Thanks Phil
  22. Yep. That makes sense as the wire colours tally up with what i found. Just didnt realize that any defenders had a water filter? Phil
  23. Thats cool - i already have some of those. I take it the new connector will go onto where the TD5 type connector is on my harness, ie the 2nd connector in my pics? Phil
