  1. yep as Ralph says. Saves non Land rover owners from messing themselves.
  2. Ok, so as some of you know I got my new toy last week. Followed the instructions re earthing expecting this to me an immediate issue. I still get the unable to communicate with ECU error message. However, where the ECU is is full of waste oil from the loom (which is cleaned weekly). What I am wondering is the oil contamination possibly still inducing an earthing problem after cleaning, or is my ECU possibly B***ered. OR Will stripping the ECU and cleaning the internals have any hope of sorting things out. Does anyone nearby have a TD5 I can test the Nanocom with in the unlikely event that I have a faulty unit? Cheers Dra85
  3. what about left and twist drills?
  4. the OAT antifreze is recommended for the TD5 engine as the blue stuff corrodes the internals over time. I know the blue stuff is for pennies compared, but just thought I would point it out. BTW Halfrauds had OAT on offer recently on a 3 4 2 but can't remember the price.
  5. Hi, take off the bottom radiator hose, thats the quickest and best way to drain. Make sure the engine is cold, cos scalding hot water on hands and feet is very uncomfortable. Refill with pre mixed OAT antifreeze (the pretty pink stuff)will take around 10 litres due to residual amounts remaining in the block. Cheers Paul
  6. 27mm same as Defender wheel not (well at least mine are)
  7. I would just like to praise the buying experience I have enjoyed from D44. On 27th November I ordered my Nanocom. I recieved a call (not an email) from a lovely lady who's name escapes me now to say it was out of stock, but stock was expected mid December. I was given the option to cancel my order or wait. I chose to wait and she promised to keep me updated. Christmas week arrived and I fully expected an email stating dispatched. Instead I recieved another very courtious phone call appologising and stating that they now expected delivery late January, and would I like to cancel my order or continue to wait. I chose again to wait. Today it arrived, and better than that its the new USB version. After a bit of stupidity with the USB driver I now have a working Nanocom, and whats more I was not expecting the early delivery cos I'm very lazy with reading personal emails To the D44 team please accept my thanks for the care you have extended to my custom. To anyone thinking of using D44, I highly recommend you give them your business. Cheers Paul
  8. In the rubber sealing strip is a filler strip around 8mm wide. This is a rubber string for want of a better way of describing it. The ends of wich will meet in the middle of either the sides, top or bottom of the glass. With care a small flat blade screwdriver can coax one of the ends out of the seal. At this point a second pair of hands can be useful. Carefully remove the filler strip, but be ready as the seal will have degraded with age and the grass is very free to move once the strip is out. Re fitting is the reverse process, however it is easier to use the correct tool to re fit along with washing up liquid in the strip. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/11mm-Locking-Strip-Insert-Tool-With-Two-Spatulas_W0QQitemZ190363862603QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_BoatEquipment_Accessories_SM?hash=item2c5292064b is such a tool Hope this helps. Will have a look on MC tonight if Western is asleep, :lol
  9. Mine has 4mm ali plate in place of the windows (but in the original window fitting. This was an original fit by SVO. If you do not want people looking in then for me this is the best option. Cheers
  10. Turns out its the same therad as air tool cobbectors so that should be 3/8 bsp. Thanks for the response Western. Paul
  11. Hi, might be stupid here but cannot find a size for the tow pintle. My latest one has no grease nipple. Anyone able to help at all?
  12. Sounds like the pitch centre diameter is different. The 3/8 bolt will probably fit with the RRC drive flange. I had a similar problem with the rover disk braked axle I fitted to my old 90. I think its to do with the axle you have fitted being one of the fused drive flange/half shaft ones so its either buy fused DF/HS or get RRC flanges. HTH Paul
  13. This Marelli Alternator Lucas p/n LRB285 should fit a TD, it does fit a 200TDi. Discussed in this thread http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=38113&st=0&p=364072entry364072
  14. need to run it in XP SP2 compatability mode. It does run, but you seem to have to manually run it in this mode as it seems to not remember the seetting when you try to save them. From memory, right click on mcat and click compatability. Cheers Paul
  15. glad you have nanocom, I'm still waiting for mine, told mid jan now.
  16. Sounds like super heated soot blwoing out of the exhaust. Is the egr removed, is the ECU remapped?. Only thing I'd personally be woried about is if the exhaust gas temp was high as damage will follow at some stage. Hopefully its just soot getting hot and blwon out. Cheers paul
  17. Hobson Brothers have been doing the ones fitted to HD defenders (i.e grease nipples on the DC joint). They put em up on ebay for about £150 with tranny flange (no comments please).
  18. I'm with Luke on this point. Just think outside the box, and try to make it a PITFA to contemplate taking.
  19. Snowing on and off in Sheffield, but no accumilations as yet. Stangely Met Office has gone from no snow to a weather warning for up to 4 inches for South Yorkshire. hopefully time for a bit more fun.........
  20. when this has happened to me in the past its been the bars moving the locking mech which are freezing up, de -icing and 3 in 1 oil has always worked. Cheers Paul
  21. I got the Halfraud one in October as it was on offer at half price. My advise would be wait till the sales. Also don't overlook Aldi Netto and Lidl, all frequently do very good for the money tools and maintenance items. Cheers Paul
  22. I have looked on MC and have been unable to find the part number for that grommet and also the one just to the passenger side of the gearbox tunnel. I suspect they are both for A/C pipework now thats been said. Mine are blanked with gobo atm, but the correct grommets would be a nice to have.
  23. This is the one I bought: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ROVER-220-420-820-1991-97-100-AMP-ALTERNATOR-285_W0QQitemZ300320080477QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item45ec78c25d £65 brand new
  24. Marelli Alternator Lucas p/n LRB285 Cheers Paul
