Sunny weekend on the drive with several cuppa's
But, it could be a couple of things.... Do the chrome (or possibly black) swivel balls on the end of the axles look corroded? or is the swivel seal definitely leaking. As EP90 oil on the tyre could also be the hub seal leaking too.
Just buy the right type switch from them and wire it up as you would expect the MUD one to be
EDIT: X-Eng also sell carling switches I believe. Though I'm not sure which type they are.
I will never forget the face of some drivers at the last Abingdon 4x4 Festival, one of the marshals had a Syncro and was pulling people from the mud run in it
Attaching the strap to the axle before would mean it probably getting caught on things. and where would you put the ends? if they're onto the bumper/body then you risk restricting the articulation.
Errr, I'm sure Elbekko isn't refering to a standard bumper, but one with suitable recovery points. And yes a towbar is perfectly adequate for a recovery, unless its bolted to a rust chassis in which case its no good for towing either!
To be fair, I wouldn't worry about the bushes.... they're designed for all the shock loadings of driving along!
But, I still don't see any merit in recovering using an axle rather than a proper recovery point. Unless a vehicle doesn't have proper points.
What kind of tent were you looking at Jason?
My sketches for a teardrop I want to build incorperate a sort of trailer-tent style tent. Or a Rooftent with awing round the back of the T.D.
EDIT: and the above sketch, I'd move the wheel arches further back down the body, unless you're planning a very long A frame?
