  1. Sunny weekend on the drive with several cuppa's But, it could be a couple of things.... Do the chrome (or possibly black) swivel balls on the end of the axles look corroded? or is the swivel seal definitely leaking. As EP90 oil on the tyre could also be the hub seal leaking too.
  2. Carling are american, but they do make the switches in both configurations.
  3. I was trying to make it more inline with the classical restoration of Fridge's 109
  4. Isn't the top hose the pipe going out of the rad. So the switch is then seeing the cooled water from the rad and not the engine temperature?
  5. X-Eng switches are great Mine is in the bottom hose.
  6. Just buy the right type switch from them and wire it up as you would expect the MUD one to be EDIT: X-Eng also sell carling switches I believe. Though I'm not sure which type they are.
  7. Use the wipers as the gauges, and mark round the screen for the values!
  8. Oh is that the bit that was always used but shouldnt have been? IIRC someone was killed on a bike a few years ago? should know the name of it....
  9. I think the most apropriate question is.... why not!
  10. I think series 1s are popular, I would LOVE one. But I'm sure mom would kill me if I turned up with one
  11. Yes, lovely! There is one not far from me . What a spanner for attaching it to that tree
  12. Do standard LR radius arms have enough strength in them to have the shocks mounted directly to them?
  13. I will never forget the face of some drivers at the last Abingdon 4x4 Festival, one of the marshals had a Syncro and was pulling people from the mud run in it
  14. Attaching the strap to the axle before would mean it probably getting caught on things. and where would you put the ends? if they're onto the bumper/body then you risk restricting the articulation.
  15. If you are keeping the current transferbox mounts you will not need to change the prop shafts
  16. It has to be asked... how would you fit them in there?!
  17. Well surely that defeats your previous point then, its the condition of the chassis, not the fact its a tow bar
  18. Errr, I'm sure Elbekko isn't refering to a standard bumper, but one with suitable recovery points. And yes a towbar is perfectly adequate for a recovery, unless its bolted to a rust chassis in which case its no good for towing either!
  19. To be fair, I wouldn't worry about the bushes.... they're designed for all the shock loadings of driving along! But, I still don't see any merit in recovering using an axle rather than a proper recovery point. Unless a vehicle doesn't have proper points.
  20. I think its LRO that has a reasonable price guide in the back of it. No idea how accurate it is though.
  21. What kind of tent were you looking at Jason? My sketches for a teardrop I want to build incorperate a sort of trailer-tent style tent. Or a Rooftent with awing round the back of the T.D. EDIT: and the above sketch, I'd move the wheel arches further back down the body, unless you're planning a very long A frame?
  22. Scott, the rear door could be the knackered spring. Pop the badge off the handle and get some WD40 in there, and have a poke about.
