in ref this welder:
http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/mig160en-turbo-no-gas-mig-welder
converted to gas.
its not perfect, and its taken me a while, but now ive got it working properly (new gas regulator) it has enough power to blow a hole in 5mm plate, and is doing perfect welds on full power on 5mm steel with excellent penetration and good control. im very impressed and i would recommend to anyone.
Glad you got it back. hope it isnt too damaged.
y'know, the more i see these defender stolen threads the more i think about how i secure my motorcycle and wonder if similar methods could be used for a landy?
ie, f off big ground anchor sunk into the drive and massive chain through the chassis? for example... would take seconds to do/undo every day and might make the tealeaf think twice....
anyone tried this stuff?

seems just thejob.
hi guys..
i want to protect my axles chassis etc. so i intend to clean up and paint it. the problem is ive seen people on here with orange axles etc an i want some of that action.
so what paint should i go for? ive my heart set on black chassis and florescent orange axles and suspension....
who makes it? i cant find anything in the usual places...
the 3 engines ive had pumps go on or the one where the sump split and dumped all its oil all got switched off withing milliseconds of the oil light coming on and coasted to the side. still had scored bores, bugged cams and play in the crank.rip, scooby....
funny, my local morrisons is filled by a bp lorry. got chatting to the driver, he picks it up from the same tank at the depot as all the bp shell etc garages......
dads a trader, all his 'clean' rubble goes to a local farmer for £10 a load the rest goers in the back of his van to the tip. for free. he just has to have a access card, which they give you for free, that says its definitely not trade waste, honest govner.
and all my waste oil goes to the same tip in the back of my disco in 4 25l drums. bout once a year.
they arent corroded on the normal travel so it should be ok. only one side has failed.
i dont like the idea of one shot, i did consider it, but have heard about possible corrosion issues doing it.
the chrome balls on the front axle.... the ones you fill with oil.. are those the swivel balls? if so is this what i need to stop it pissing oil?
