  1. That's where a separate web mail address comes in useful...... Alternative delivery address is useful there, either work, or a sympathetic fellow LR owner
  2. looks good so far. any reason why you moved the lights under the light bar?
  3. Depends on what needs doing for the lpg service really. if it's a check over and inspection you are looking at about £120. there are a few specialists about town though, one that springs to mind is Landi (UK), they are out at Dorstone. Yellow Pages is the other option. If it's a retune (depends on the system fitted) then there is plenty of info on the web on how to do it yourself.
  4. no adaptor unfortunately. IIRC you can make one pipe out of two if you have the old disco pipe, take it to a hydraulics place, and they can joint them together. Les's thread on the 200tdi conversion in the tech archive details it a bit better
  5. I have had BPR's installed in mine since Feb/Mar this year (they do need changing i think now though) with no problems, until the cold weather started. most mornings it would not fire, so i got into the habit of switching back to petrol as i pulled into the end of the road, and that seemed to help a lot. The only difference between the BCP and the BC is the size of the plug spanner - the rest of the specs are the same. On a side note, NGK do make a specific LPG plug for the V8's, but at about £15 per plug (last time i checked) compared to about £1.20 per plug for the BPR's - i would rather change them more often than fit fancy ones. Can't see the size of the hex making much difference TBH, seems strange that this would make so much difference??
  6. we had to use a new pas pipe on the conversion we did, IIRC it was about £35 from bearmach. the disco 200tdi pipe is the one you need - ntc 5494 it is a bit shorter than the defender one, but only just, ours went in ok, but wouldn't clip back into the clamps on the fron x-member. no probs on the pump BTW - they only collected it yesterday afternoon !
  7. At the end of the day, thoughts must rest with the ones that they lost - no matter what the cause was. All the evidence has been reviewed by the investigators, and the jury, and they have made a judgement based on the evidence provided. Condolences to the family, especially at this time of year.
  8. it's good for mixing cocktails of fruit juices - not so good for comfort though
  9. yep - already ordered, another prject for xmas week (got 10 days straight ) along with sorting the wheel shake, fitting the x-charge, and adding some extra fuse boxes
  10. if you remove the axle first, then raise the front of the truck up, then i don't see why not - however, lifting the body high enough could be a problem. maybe worth travelling round a few farms, and asking if you can slip the farmer a few notes to use a corner of a barn for a weekend or two? rig up a block and tackle, or use a telehandler if he has one.
  11. ...and further to that, X-Eng products have an excellent reputation for quality - truly deserved from what i have read on here (and other forums) - based on real world usage and testing.
  12. greed? - low cost to produce coupled with high margins = £££
  13. IIRC that there is something in place - but only for large volume items. Small companies that sell less than x amount of a product don't require any formal testing - otherwise they would be out of business due to the costs of having things tested and approved before being able to sell them. I am sure i will be corrected, but that was kicking around in the back of my head from somewhere....
  14. thank you - i scan read the steering box threads, and didn't see it - d'oh!
  15. Have tried a search to no avail - plenty of info on how to change it, but what size is the nut that holds the drop arm on the box?
  16. about time there was a Minister for 4x4's in the HoP.....
  17. ordered the one from impulse half hour ago, guess what pops up in my email? 15% off everything on ebay until the 19th december - i could scweem!!!!!
  18. cheers for that. next question, which is better to go for, the "high" one, or the type that has the lights below the level of the roof?
  19. Can anyone recommend where to get a roof light bar from for my series 1 disco?
  20. if it only came in orange...... hat coat exit stage left......
  21. clutch pedal did appear to feel a bit lighter, just seems strange that it suddenly went, and has been fine ever since. trying to put it into gear with the engine off was fine IIRC, but as soon as the engine was running, it wouldn't go at all. usually when the seals start to go in the slave/master, pumping the pedal will build enough pressure to release it, but it didn't in this case. may get hold of a slave cyl just to be safe, and change that next week when i am off
  22. Fair play to you for asking for help on here - at least it shows some willing to try and catch the thieving scumbags. There have been a few Defenders nicked from round here too lately, if i hear anything i will let you know.
  23. If he was anything like the ones we have to deal with here, then they are complete muppets (no offence to the ones that do know their stuff). There is no qualification better than experience when it comes to mechanics these days - pieces of paper with a grade from city & guilds on it is fine - but that only proves that he/she can complete a task in a classroom. Better form of qualification would be a portfolio with photographic evidence. Years ago when i was attending Henley college as part of my NVQ course, we had to strip an engine down on the bench, 20 mins later it was apart, whilstthe rest of the class were still getting to grips with the torque wrench.
  24. Well, this is a strange one that will get some heads scratching. Drove into work Saturday, no problems, indications of impending doom or anything untoward. Reversed into my parking space, handbrake on, into neutral, engine off. Left it there. Finished work at 1pm, started it up, wouldn't go into gear.....strange. No amount of wiggling would make it work. So borrowed a van to get home with and organised a tow home later on from a mate with a defender. Came back in lateron to fetch it, tried an A frame first, wouldn't fit under the Bull Bar, Grrr, so strapped a tow rope to the axle (still waiting for some Jate rings to arrive) gave it a tug to pull it tight and got in. Started the engine, and thought i would try and get it into gear again, before we set off - it went straight in and has been fine all weekend. Any suggestions as to where to look? I have a few days booked off over the festive season, so can get under it for a good poke and prod .Fluid in clutch reservoir is fine, no signs of any leaks anywhere, no funny noises, bangs, crashes or clungs, in fact behaving normally (well, as normal as a near 20 year old disco can be ) It's quite confusing.
