  1. Of course your replacement alternator may come without a pulley and u re-use the old one,
  2. Can't help with the Wolf rims bit, but I havent heard or read a bad report on the EBC kit or the similar Powerstop kit, so all positive. Not sure u want to go to the vent option, may be if u do a lot of heavy towing in the mountains. I never suffer with with brake fade, but then I don't tow. Regards
  3. Also the kick down delay, I missed that bit, yes thats normal only 1 or 2 seconds may be, but there is a delay. Regards
  4. Just had a look at my door and as freeagent says round off the corner u may even go to 20mm radius but that would require a bit more work in the making good department.
  5. Even the Land Rover covers are not tailored as such. They are ment to be put on as quickly as pos and any crud that u may have on you dosen't come into contact with the seats. Not all discos have the grab bar/head rest style of seats. Didn't know they did them for the dickie seats though.
  6. Hi jockybee. Ever since the intro of the Discovery 2 in late 1998 the previous model has been unofficialy called Discovery 1 so yours is a D1.
  7. That's it pedal to the floor or it seem like it (all the way down) for kickdown and half way for the gear box to dropdown to a lower gear depending on road speed and engine rpm so no probs there. With the belt there two lenghts so look for the part no. on the existing belt and get the same. LR recommend a change after five years but i waited for ten before replacing mine. Look for lots of fine cracks on the ribed side it's then time for a change or so they say. Take a few air filters with u V8s gulp a lot of air so best to change them every year they are not that expensive. Also get a Haynes service/repair manual no.3016 from Halfords, very handy for even just the basic info on the car. Ive had 21 years in total of CLUNK so i'm use to it. Regards
  8. Hi Simon. U should not bounce, so perhaps the dampers ar getting a bit soft which is understandable after 10/11 years. Motorway symbol is on the master switch for the cruise control once pressed a light will show and then steering wheel controls do the rest, the cc only works over 28mph. Veering to the left, don't know. could be any thing from a soft tyre, or tracking to a worn ball joint it needs looking into though. Clunk, 'they all do that' if it's an auto just like the old RRC did the clunk comes from the transfer box and not the auto gear box. For servicing get your self a copy of a Land Rover mag and have a look, but i'm sure that other owner will post a recommendation. Finaly, NO the engine is petrol driven (could not resist that) the camshaft is chain driven and the alternator, a/c and the other external bits and bobs are driven by a single belt. Have a look at this link for an owners manual...................http://www.ownerinfo.landrover.com/extfree2viewlrprod/index.jsp Regards
  9. I would suggest that armed with the model number u take a trip down to Halfords as they have a stock of various interface plugs & sockets, or have a look on the internet at sites such as this. http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/default.asp I have the standard unit but don't bother with the dash controls some of them are hidden by the steering wheel and then only work sometimes doing the opposite of what they are surposed to do.
  10. Had look c in my parts book..From vin MA 081992 it's PIPE-OIL COOLER /TRANSMISSION ESR3239 it's the pipe that connects to the oil temperature switch the other pipe is ESR3240 Lots of pipes so hope the above is ok.
  11. Just got back from my local aquarium centre where I got some filter stuf. Its plastic and comes in flat sheets small, mid, and large I went for the small @ £3.50 thats good to do two full length strips so @ £1.75 a length, it's a bargain. The filter is flat on front with a raised cone patten on the other side it comes in three colours, black, blue, green, nice i thought but the colour indicates a different density so to match the existing density it had to be the black. So 4 strips of 21cm x 3cm and 2 strips of 17cm x 3cm has now filled the hole. I allowed 5mm extra give a snug fit. Thanks for that tip aherbon
  12. Fuel or Ignition, Fuel when was the filter last replaced and ignition when was the plugs and plug leads last replaced. I have just replaced them on my V8 and it does make a differance I did not bother with the dizzi cap that was ok.
  13. Excelent aherbon. any more info on what his product is as i don't keep fish and haven't a clue. I may open a shop on ebay Regards
  14. Hi cipx2 I've click on Craddocks and did a Pt no. search the item came up @ £7.13 plus p&p £6 plus Vat thats makes £15.43 and thats a Joke. So my challenge now is to find the alternative.
  15. Funny in the D1 parts catalogue LR call them Intake duct pollen filter, I don't think so either. I need to replace mine they have shrunk in size so have gaps at the end. There must be something similar around that can be cut to suit. Craddocks sell them at just over £7 http://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk/
  16. The earth is taking from the lamp mounting post either via the metal work of the nudge bar to the vehicle, or is taken as a seperate wire from the bulb holder to a an earthing point on the vehicle. The relay can fail because of it's location on the inner wing, after a time rain water can build up in the relay or the weather proof plastic shroud (if fitted) covering the relay.
  17. The rear washer jet is a bayonet fitting so 1/4 twist and it will release.
  18. Ok but i'm in the northen hemisphere and looking at the engine from outside the box...... it's at the rear of the rocker cover with the red/orange thingy at the front. Regards
  19. Hi Kevinr Number 1. Could be the By-pass air valve at the rear of the plenum chamber gumed up and sticking so unplug and unscrew it and soak in carb cleaner or thinners and replace, taking care with the fibre washer. Also check for any air leaks damaged hoses or loose clips etc. Number 2. Could be your hand brake is not releasing fully. Get underneath and slacken the the shoes fully then re-adjust to three clicks on the hand brake lever. Hopefully that will cure the problem, thats what I did and "it worked for me" Regards
  20. Just had look myself and just as first fleet says rear of the right hand rocker cover.
  21. Have a look at this link Urban Panzer has done a nice drawing showing the pipe layout. http://www.lro.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14726
  22. If U R thinking of changing the filter then the 'Y' part of the exhaust must be dropped down to remove the gearbox sump on a 3.9 along with the cross member.
  23. The break at the welds has happened before. Some owners drill an small hole where the welds are and use an nut and bolt for a fix
  24. Good idea to extend both front & rear breathers if you intend to go into deepish water but they should be vented to the fresh air unless u love the smell of EP90 but u shouldn't get any smell they are there to allow any condensation in the diff to evap..
