  1. No, you need the proper 200TDI version in order to fit straight in. If you don't mind moving the engine, you can use one from a 300TDI. V8 ones are different.
  2. If that is true, it will not be out in 2012. You would need to be near prototype stage to make 2012.
  3. I agree Bill. It is sad if they go down this road. They need to look at Jeep. They managed to modernize the Jeep while keeping the live axles and offer diff locks and low gear standard. Land Rover could, easily, make a much better off road vehicle than they have currently, while making it meet modern requirements much cheaper than the current model. Jeep is making money hand over fist and Rover could make something so much better if they went down the correct path. I would be willing to bet a few of us could sit down and make the basic design within a week of work for a modern, rugged, off and on road capable truck that would be cheaper to produce and make them a lot of money. Personally, I don't really believe they have any designers working at LR that are off road knowledgeable. They have a bunch of car designers.
  4. The LT77S on Discos used coolers. But if I see correctly, on a Defender, the place where the cooler pipe adapter bolts on does not have access.
  5. No, it just means it has been permenently deformed. the rate will stay the same. It is a function of the geometry (except free length)and the materials.
  6. Just an FYI that Ashcroft should be very close to selling short shaft R380s.
  7. Is the clutch disengaging fully? When stopped, will it go into reverse without grinding? Check the adjustment of the shifter bias spring.
  8. 15x8 are better off road for holding a bead. 15x10 are better on road.
  9. Yes, they can sag. The spring rate, however, cannot change over time. It is impossible.
  10. No. It is not possible. The spring rates cannot change. They are fixed. You listing is due to something else.
  11. They are rocking horse poo. Ashcroft says they are going to be building new ones very soon.
  12. It is the main fueling adjuster and increases fueling across all operation.
  13. By "smoke screw", you mean the one on the diaphram cover? That is only for setting fueling when there is no boost. It will just help reduce turbo lag. It won't affect power above 1500 rpm. Look for smoke at 1000 rpm and full throttle.
  14. Take a picture of what screw you have been screwing with....
  15. I had 250/310 on the 90 stock and 220/280 on my Disco. I always thought stock Discos were an inch or so lower than Defenders.
  16. Well...I have friends that have taken fuel from the fuel filter housing (after the lift pump) and have been running them for years without problems.
  17. Dave and Bill. On the subject of Detroit failures. Were you seeing failures of the diff that did not coincide with a halfshaft failure? I'm just trying to determine if weak halfshafts are leading to the failures or if the diffs are failing on their own. I'm running one. It was cheap, $250.... I don't personally find any bad on road or off road manners since I put it in. I keep waiting, as people say it must happen, but its been three years and I'm still waiting. Maybe I should plan for an ARB, but I don't really like their design.
  18. You need to set freeplay on the rod that pushes on the master cylinder. If there is not freeplay, then the master will push the clutch open all of the time.
  19. I thought most Disco wheel had a 33mm offset. The number listed above is 48 mm??
  20. Make sure you have freeplay at the master. You could have a bad new master or slave....
  21. You should be able to pull through the electric, in tank pump.... I assume that the last poster meant the mechanical lift pump. That does work as well.
  22. Thanks. Which model in particular? Do you have the part number? If there is a moderator watching, would you mind splitting off the tyre size discussion and moving it to the international forum? I've kind of hijacked the thread...
  23. I see, I had some dyslexia last night... Try again as you can't edit old posts. NRC7578 (Defender tube rims) 16 x 5.5 Backspacing 127 mm (5") Frontspacing 55 mm (2-3/16") Offset 36 mm calculated (33 stamped on the rim) Modular (unknown origin) 16 x 7 Backspacing 110 mm (4-5/16") Frontspacing 97 mm (3-13/16") Offset 7 mm calculated If you send information for the P38 bolt pattern, please say so... Otherwise I assume Rover 5 on 6.5".
  24. Yep, I'll link to pictures for each wheel, where possible. I realize there may be a variety.... I'll do what I can to clarify. It is too bad that the aftermarket wheels are not marked at all. If you know where they were purchased, or have any more information, let me know. More information is better than less.
