  1. There is special anti-squeal goop that can be put on the back of the pads. At least you can buy it at any auto parts store here in Canada. Always a good idea. Chamfer is on the leading edge.
  2. Mud - Interco Boggers with some cutting. Other - Interco Iroks Bigger the better.
  3. On those, the glow plug power comes straight from the ignition switch to the light on the dash and to the plugs. Either the ignition switch is bad or a cable has come loose. There are no fuses in the system. Once you are past the first cold start, it will not need the plugs to start.
  4. Thanks!! Just what I need. No problems getting stuff in the UK....
  5. The main plug into the alternator on my 200TDI is half melted (from the previous owner). The parts book just shows the whole engine wiring loom (PRC6082), which nobody seems to sell anyway. Anybody have a source for just the plug? It is the three female spade connector one.
  6. The problem is that the OP is in Italy. Left hand drive trucks can not fit the Disco 200TDI with the short bellhousing gearbox..... The normal exhaust conversions will foul the steering.
  7. The V8 has a different mounting width on the main mount.
  8. Yes. You need to be wider before you need to trim or before they stick out past the spats.
  9. I believe it is more than that. They seem to be quite a bit stronger than the later model 24 spline shafts, so must be made of better materials.
  10. Tirfors are great and everyone should have one. However, for recovering a vehicle, where there is access for a vehicle mounted winch, you won't want to do it twice.......
  11. It matters not with the VDO speedo. You can reprogram it in seconds for whatever you want. I run different tyres sizes and change it all the time. Very easy.
  12. Well.... You should get the drum machined regardless. You will drastically reduce the life of the shoes if you don't. Hopefully that will fix your problem.
  13. That transducer will work. You do not need to change the drive gear. The speedos are fully adjustable and programmable for any transducer. Any 4" VDO speedo will work. The cheapest is the 120 mph model, model 437-155 http://www.egauges.com/vdo_mult.asp?Type=Speedometer&Series=Vision&Units=E http://www.summitracing.com/parts/VDO-437155/ Probably cheapest in the USA. I found mine on eBay for around $70, but I looked for quite awhile. edit: The kmh ones are REALLY expensive.... I gave up finding a cheap one and simply programmed the mph one to show kph. They are all EXACTLY the same physical units, just different faceplates.
  14. Safari snorkels have a water separator built into the design of the ram, so there is no need for water drains after it. Plus, you have the drain inthe air box, which is perfectly fine by itself.
  15. Keep in mind, that stock, they are not really any stronger than Rover axles. If you want to use them hard, they will require some upgraded bits.
  16. Can't you just seal the drain? I have a Southdown, which avoids these problems....
  17. Thanks for that. So in summary, he got a turbo from Allards that he had to modify a lot to get to fit!!! Not much point going to Allards unless it is a proper bolt in kit. That is kind of depressing really as I "assumed" that they would supply proper ready to use kits. At least that is what it says on their site. Maybe things have progressed since enzorover did it.
  18. I must be blind. I have searched and come up empty. Maybe you can help?
  19. That is the 300TDI manual. This thread is about a 200TDI. As I read it, the 200TDI manual says to use new bolts. In addition, it makes a lot of sense considering these engines are known to blow head gaskets.....
  20. I'm interesting in learning about anybody that has fitted a VGT turbo to a 200TDI Defender. What turbo was used? What modifications were required?
  21. A clutch job MUST include: Clutch Pressure plate Throwout bearing Clutch fork Slipper pads slave cylinder push rod and clip All of these bits wear out.....
  22. Ummm.... I thought that the head bolts are not to be reused.
  23. There must be something wrong with the engine. IME, the 200TDI has less vibration than the 2.5NA.
  24. 285/75/16 will hit the wheel boxes on the rear tires before hitting the bump stops. Depending on springs and weight, it is not normally possible to test this in a normal articulation test. If you have a look the rear axle won't be on the bump stops. What then happens is the contact occurs on the trail went there is some dynamic component....
  25. It is 5/8”-18 UNF. I guarantee it. VDO makes a sender that fits it perfectly, model 323-026.
