  1. Hi All, I have just about finished a conversion to auto on a 110. What size tyres would anyone suggest? Oh I have used the Defender Transfer Box, not the Disco. Keith
  2. Yes it is i have just bought one to fit, if it ever stops raining, i got mine from Doncaster Country Vehicles 01302 880001, well made welded correctly not like some of the carp cross members that are out there. Keith
  3. Hi all, Pretty sure i know the answer to this but all ideas thoughts welcome. Right have fitted a 300tdi auto into a 110, known good engine and box etc (came out of my own disco, owned for 8 years). Anyway all fitted, injector pump changed over for a good one. Starts up fine revs ok for several seconds then falters and dies, re start after a bit of cranking same again. So to me its dragging air in somewhere, almost certainly where i joined the pipework together, vehicle origonally had a 2.5 n/a fitted. do you agree?, if you do any suggestions on making the joins airtight? epoxy resin etc? I was considering renewing the 2 pipes back to the tank but have been quoted £120 +vat for the 2 pipes and i`m a tight git regards Keith
  4. Hi All, Who does a good job at a reasonable price of reconditioning a 300Tdi Injector Pump? Regards Keith
  5. Hi All, Am removing the engine and box from my Disco 300 Tdi Auto to fit into a 110 (2.5 N/A). I would like to keeep the injector pump that is fitted to Auto Disco`s if possible. I accept that the easier route is probably to change the injector pump which is what i did the last time i did one of these conversions. But somebody must know how to keep the origonal pump and alter the wiring etc, so all replies greatfully accepted even a wiring diagram that somebody has actually done would be even better. Regards Keith
  6. Hi All Now i know i will have to move the engine mounts thanks Western, the next question is:- I am taking the engine and box out of a 300tdi Disco and fitting in the 110 which transfer box would be more suitable the disco or defender one? i am hoping to fit 750x16 tyres or equivalent. Regards Keith Thye last time i did this i used the disco transfer box, but the new owner said he changed it for a defender one as it was better
  7. Thanks for that, . Best get me welding head on then as well as a new cutting disc in the angle grinder. Regards Keith
  8. Hi All, Anybody know, and i`m sure someone will, are the engine mounts on a 2.5NA in the same place as on a 300tdi?. Just to save me running aroung in thye dark with a tape measure and a torch, as not home in daylight at ball this week. Cheers Keith
  9. Hi All Have obtained a full size intercooler made by Allisport (2nd hand) also one of their 300tdi Auto, tuning modules (2nd hand) anybody have a wiring diagram for the module? Regards Keith
  10. Wrong bolts mate they should have 13mm heads Keith
  11. Hi All, Wife just rang me to tell me she has been pulled by local plod, who informed her that her reversing light was stuck on. Apparently its on even when the ign switched off. Helpful plod removed bulb and sent her on her way. Vehicle is a 300tdi auto (1996) Any ideas where to start? am i right in thinking that the reverse light switch is also combined with the inhibitor switch on the auto box? regards Keith
  12. On P gaskets i use Loctite "Black stuff" cant remember its proper name, on water pump gaskets i normally use hylomar "blue" never had a problem with either. Keith
  13. Had this last year on a friends 110, i left the head on just changed all the push rods and checked the rocker shaft. No problems since Keith
  14. I have 4 on the same policy with NFU, 2 Disco 300tdi, 1 Defennder 300 tdi, 1 Series 2A Costs £650 per year for all 4, with guaranteed value on the 110 because of all the overland carp thats on/in it. Mileage is 15000 on the 300tdi`s and 3000 on the Series 2A, everything thats carried in the 110 is insured fully, including tools and the HF radio equipment and antennas Keith
  15. Agree with the above then get mig welder out and weld the nuts up so some scrotum cannot have your winch and bumper away Keith
  16. Hi Mine was the same all the lips were goosed, what i did was use 2 pieces of angle iron, one piece fitted all way across, i think that was 25x25x3mm, then a piece of 12x12x3mm welded to that to make a "Lip for the floor to sit on. Hope that helps Keith
  17. Neil Would totally agree with the above Keith
  18. Neil, You have the right part circled it should be sat on the head, it pushes over a lip which holds it in place, if its not sat flush to the head, ie has moved up the valve carefully push it downwards to re-seat it over the lip, DO NOT use a sharp screwdrivwer as if you tear it, its head off time. Keith
  19. Sell it to me £10 Personally i would rebuild it minus the V8 with a 300tdi, but of course this depends on the level of tinworm in the chassis and bulkhead. Regards Keith
  20. Be a man - have both!!! Keith
  21. Hi All, ANy electrical gurus had this before? As soon as i touch the brake pedal the brake light fuse blows Any ideas befor e i start ripping things apart, its a 1995 300tdi 110 Regards Keith
  22. Hi, I would change the engine it must have weakened, damaged other parts for it to get that hot it starts melting pistons. 300 tdi are available pretty cheaply. Though i would also fit a decent digital temp gauge as the LR one is bloody useless, i also have a low level warning system on the expansion tank, i fitted these after i did the same as you a few years ago. Regards Keith
  23. RAdiator radiator or even the radiator Keith
  24. No it should not go down to the floor. Servi is probably goosed Keith
  25. Hi, Not trying to put you off here, but i suggest you practice your welding "off" the Disco first. You need to learn to seam weld rather than the odd spot. If you are using i presume a MIG and not a stick, you need to clean up the surrounding areas you are going to weld to properly with grider flap discs etc, it makes a hell off a difference when you come to weld it together, also where your earth clamp is fitted also needs to be very clean. I have just done one of our Disco`s the replacement sills were made from 100x60x3mm box and fully seam welded in. I have not been a MOT tester for many years but i would not have passed that. As i said i am not trying to put you off but you need to improve your welding, all it takes is practice and time. The danger that i see is if you get by with that welding and you could with the use of underseal etc, you may one day weld something that is critical for strength "think thats okay" and end up with it failing and either killing yourself or someone else because it fails. Regards Keith
