  2. 110 300Tdi CSW Disco 300Tdi X 2 Series 2A Petrol All above on the road Plus various other bits ( prob enough for 2 more LRs ) Keith
  3. Hi All, Just picked up a 300tdi disco for spares etc, anyway it has a full width Intercooler on from Allisport. Is this the same as fitted to the Defender 300tdi? Regards Keith
  4. Be warned their are lots os carp *new* heads out their, saw one last month from eblag only fit for scrap, luckily he got his money back. Just because its new and cheap does not mean its any good, better spending the extra folding stuff and getting one from Turners IMHO. Regards Keith
  5. Maybe not for the perfectionists on here but oxy/acet till glowing will get it off, had to do that once on a 300tdi in the past. Regards Keith
  6. Hi All Has anyone had any experience of using Bell Auto Services near York? Regards Keith
  7. Hi I spoke to Allisport at Billing this weekend and they will fit one for £350 inc vat (full width), plus do the neccessary adjustments to the fueling. Bell Auto Services apparently do them as well and they are considerably nearer only 35miles away, but i know nothing about them at all. Regards Keith
  8. Head gasket is an easy job, i think Les has done an excellent write up in the technical forum somewhere. I would only use an origonal Elring gasket available from most places, whatever you do stay away from Britpart better known a sh-tpart, for their quality or lack of it. What engine is it? Regards Keith
  9. Hi All, The time has come to fit a uprated intercooler to the 110. Now i know Allisport is probably the most common but who else does them?, and any comments on service etc Regards Keith
  10. Hi All, Her indoors who only drives autos (3 pedals gear lever and a steering wheel is too much for her few braincells ) Has decided that she would like a 90. Anyway i first considered a 300tdi for several reasons, mainly because i have done the conversion before (in a 110) and found no major problems in doing it. Anyway after much deep thought, well several cans of Carlsberg, decided on the TD5 option, as the wife is paying, just considering buying a TD5 90 and throwing in a auto box from a td5 disco etc. Now what is wrong with that method?, i am sure someone has done it and found the pitfalls etc, or as the wife is paying should it go to Ashcrofts as i`m sure they do the conversion. Decided on the TD5 because of the increase in power over the 300Tdi, which should make the Autobox option work better. Any ideas etc greatly welcomed Keith
  11. My mate had his Disco3 TD6 serviced at a well known dealer, apart from the fact it was a fortune in general they charged him £13-85 + Vat for a sodding rear light bulb as well, its actions like this that make the rest of us complain about main stealers. \keith
  12. find a good guy and spend the day with the wife! THAT is worth 300 quid!! To her anyway! Lara I would pay £300 NOT to spend a day with the wife Keith Now hoping her indoors does not read this
  13. Well i have one of these the mk1 type, excellent bits of kit, i added the end plate myself. My truck was broken into one night but at least the truck was undriveable. Keith
  14. Sill is easy especially if its a 5 door, ignore the very expensive land Rover part its vastly overpriced. What you need is 1.3 metres of 100x60x3mm box section, cap off the ends either angled or flat, cut out all of the crappy old sill at the front and back, offer up box section mark where door post/pillars are, cut out where marked on box section on the face you will no find with a bit of persuation the box will slide up behind the door posts, fully weld front and rear, job done will out last the rest of the vehicle, boot floor is easy just takes time especially drilling out the old spot welds Keith
  15. Er not true the Turbo is a seperate item to the manifold (2 pieces), i know this for a fact as i have just fitted a new turbo to my 300 tdi 110, Regards Keith
  16. Of course it will do it i took my 200tdi 110 to the Balkans several times. Spares i took were Head Gasket+Manifold Gasket Water Pump LiftPump Wheel Bearings U/Js Alternator Plus bits of hose, tape, wire, electrical bits Parts are easily available in Croatia and Bosnia, though pricey compared to mthe UK All i ever had to change in several trips were a Lift pump. Keith
  17. Definitely agrre with the above its happenned to me before, new alternator was cheaper than a diode pack. Keith
  18. Hi, I have the 1.4 Ezi Awn on my 110, have used Ezi Awns for years and personally think they are the best on the market, mine has been used in tropical thunder storms, to dust storms in the desert. Never had any problems that it has not stood up to, all zips etc are still as good as new, it gets used for 10 weeks a year, plus odd weekends in the UK. The only fault i have ever had with these tents are the covers, they have all split on at least one of the corners, but nothing that a bit of gaffer tape has not sorted out. We tried a Maggiolina a few years ago for a season but hated it with a passion after the Ezi Awn, yes it was simple to put up and the ability to leave your bedding inside was a great bonus, but very limited space compared to the Ezi Awn especially if you need to get in with wet/muddy clothing, nowhere to put it out of the way as the tents not long enough. Plus it takes up all of your roof rack hardly any space left for all the other carp i like to carry etc. A few years ago we were in Africa in extreme weather (thunder storms very high winds etc), anyway their were 5 Land rovers all with tents on top, at the end of the storm the only tents that were left were 2 Ezi Awns and a Hannibal, a Brownchurch and another make (cant remember name) basically were blown apart. As for suppliers they will pretty much all be the same with warranty etc, buy at a show if possible they usually have better prices especially at the bigger shows on the last day. Regards Keith
  19. Thanks will try halfords today as got to go past anyway. Regards Keith
  20. This is the way i will go if i cannot get a connector, standard lead has no voltage smoothiong function. Regards Keith
  21. Interesting theory but they would then charge me the £33-50 that they charge for a replacement lead
  22. Hi All, Have a Engel fridge 35L model, anyway i need a new DC power lead as i have placed mine somewhere very safe Does anybody know where i can get a plug from that i can wire up, i simply refuse to pay £33-50 for one from the dealers thats sodding extorionate for a bl--dy plug with a cig lighter plug on the other end which i would not use anyway, have looked at maplins on line and no joy. Regards Keith
  23. Take it off and take it back where you got it from for an exchange under warranty etc . Genuine ones will last for ages even with lift of a couple of inches. Usually Bearmach stuff is okay, but definitely take it back and get a new one. Keith
  24. I would take the rad out, simple job and have a good look at what the fins are like and also give it a good back flush to try to remove any blockages carp build up etc Regards Keith
