  1. Says it is fitted with Amazon directional tyres. Seems he must spend most of his time going backwards
  2. I think you mean Dum Dum putty. It's used to seal series windscreens among other things. http://shop.morrisminorspares.co.uk/images/graphics/T18.jpg
  3. If you've ever driven a leafer with no shocks fitted, you will appreciate that they do in fact do quite a bit
  4. In the past I have used a brushable seam sealer on both sides of the repair (when possible), then painted over that. My theory is that the as stuff sticks to everything better than the proverbial, why put it on top of paint that is less well adhering. I use whatever my local factor has available, normally a cellulose product, judging by the fumes Most of them seem (no pun intended) to be overpaintable.
  5. Got to agree here. I didn't think load affected the front tyre pressures so much, more applicable on the rears.
  6. Looks like the safety bead is on the outer edge only.
  7. Be interested to hear how you get on Quagmire. You're making my vapour head start spinning again. I was thinking of upgrading my cooker ring to a BLOS carb, but if you can figure this out....
  8. I'd be wary of Western Union payments. I always thought they were associated with stammers too.
  9. I've been in this exact situation before, when on a walking trip in the more remote parts of Wales. Like the OP says, the RAC had no idea about grid refs, all they wanted was a post code, and I can't imagine long/lat would have been a lot of help either. We ended up giving turn by turn directions from the nearest town. Hardly satifactory, but it got us out of trouble in the end.
  10. Go yellow and enter the 110 Si Think I could be tempted to enter as a yellow too, date dependant of course.
  11. The General Grabbers were the TR type, a fairly roady y pattern. I had them in 205R16 size on my V8 Rangey, so let's not discuss economy for that We also had a set on my mother's 110 td5, they were factory fit 235/85R16. Afraid I can't offer exact MPG figures, but they give good economy and seemingly last for ever
  12. I spoke to Robin at Phoenix the other day; said he hadn't heard from you, but was more than happy to take on small production runs.
  13. I am a committed petrol head, owner of multiple V8-engined vehicles, and love 'em. I had occasion to have a rental car last week for a work trip, a 62 reg Golf 2 litre Tdi. Now I don't drive a diesel very often, but I must say that I was mighty impressed with the ooomph the Golf has, even from very low rpm. Cabin noise levels at motorway speeds were very subdued, partly down to good insulation I suppose, but also due to the engine speeds in 6th gear being very low <2000 rpm. Illegal speeds could have been easily exceeded VERY quickly Waiting with interest to see what Dan does to this Merc lump
  14. yup, I'm on it. Apologies for the wait. Work keeps getting in the way
  15. Well what a turn up for the books! I can provide some .stl files ready to print from if you like.
  16. Agree with what Escape says ^^^ I've been running my Ninety on LPG for 13 years now, also converted my RRC when I bought that. Both are venturi systems, and I have no complaints. Both systems were fitted by myself and have been inspected. It takes a bit of time, but is all pretty easy. Have you been to www.lpgforum.co.uk for advise or installer recommendations?
  17. We had one fail like that on a LT95 in a comp truck. It was years old and had seen many a dunking in mucky water etc. My guess way the bearing seized first, got very hot and melted. No idea what make it was.
  18. Yowwwch! That could have got expensive. Good thing you checked. Don't forget about the timing case drain plug to fit (assuming it's a Tdi), and the clutch housing has one too. There is a remote breather kit I believe for the timing case that means you can leave the plug fitted, although it's a good idea to drain any fluids after a wading session. I think I'd be checking the engine and gearbox/transfer box oils too. The transmission has breather pipes that terminate next to the front axle one IIRC.
  19. Well I'm glad you're still thinking of a green oval model. Defenders are indeed cool, but come at a financial premium. Also it sounds like you have been used to the more comfortable models, how long will the novelty of a Defender last for you?
  20. PMSL!!! I think Mr V8 Freak has it nailed
  21. Nige, we know there is stirring waiting to happen as soon as you're involved
  22. Steve, it seems I misinterpreted your post, so I apologise. I just read your comment as agreeing that his ideas were dumb, but having re-read this thread I see that you have simply repeated o_teunico's own words. Criticism (in your case) retracted
  23. I am disappointed to say the least to read such negative public comments about another forum member's posts. It strikes me as poor etiquette, especially when a member of the admin team joins in. I don't see what the OP's intention was in starting this topic, I hope it wasn't negative. I am pleased to see there are plenty of members who like myself do appreciate the stirrings of our Spanish friend's grey cells. As already commented, his posts have evoked plenty of discussion from some well respected technical people on here, as well as other vapour builders. I am envious of the time he has to think up these ideas, mad-cap or otherwise. However I am not envious of his employment status, and hope that it changes before too long, thus enabling funding to transform his vapour plans into reality. It wasn't long ago that certain members were complaining about this forum becoming rather stagnant. Now we have someone changing all that, and some don't like it. Those members are going the right way to losing valuable contributors to this forum's content. IMO I think o teunico's posts are well written, especially considering his first language is not English. They are well researched, and illustrated to get the intended concept across. If the image is is low-res, does it matter? A small picture can still often convey more than words can. Please o-teunico, do not be put off by this thread. I shall continue to enjoy your ideas, and look forward to the next posts, but hopefully not because you are having to defend yourself and your ideas.
