  1. Some of the guys we went out to Morroco with used these mounted to the roofrack on their 90, Seemed to hold the dust out well, although I do remember them taping the gaps up a few times.
  2. Also, I think your a little wrong on the trailer/licence thing. Its a trailer up to 750kgs or to a maximum train weight of 3500kgs. My 90 was 2500 meaning I could tow a trailer of 1000kgs, but my 110 is plated at 3500 leaving me with a 750kgs only trailer.
  3. Cheers, That would suggest I will be OK. I think I will put the seat loose in the back and get there early. If they have an issue then I can swap it over. Ben
  4. Good afternoon all, The 110 is going for its first class 7 MOT tomorrow and I have a quick question about seats. I have removed the single seat from the second row, and have a fridge in its place. The seatbelt and anchor point are still present. Will i need to put the seat in, or will it be enough just to test the belt and anchor? Cheers Ben
  5. I had this on my 2002 110. In my case it turned out to be a faulty earth for the ECU. I had to add a wire from the ECU post to the chassis and that cured it Worth a go?
  6. I would guess that it's not so much for protection as for the effects of an impact., though the difference between a flying lump of Ali and a lump of fibre glass is probably minimal.
  7. As the Armed foirces are skint the older 110 fllet is being refurbished, and as part of the process and hard top gets a new plastic roof, very similar to the wolf one. I belive they were plastic for balistic reasons.
  8. Not a bad idea that. I personally use a sealable "keg" which I put toward the rear corners of the truck as I find that, especially when off piste, the movement of the truck, combined with a tennis ball, give a good clean for most garments.
  9. If there is a climbing shop about you could always get a continual loop sling, and feed that through a number of different points, spreading the load?
  10. I found their to be a difference in output after cleaning one with electical contact cleaner. Didn't last long, but worth it while I waited for the new one.
  11. The PCD is the same so yes they will bolt on - however, the centre spigot is a different size so when you do bolt them on the alloy won't slip over the spigot, putting all the weight onto the bolts. Some have machined out the centre to allow the fitment, but then the half shafty cover protruds through the centre hole and you can't get the cover on.
  12. As much as you probably don't want to hear this - When the head gasket went on my 2002 Td5, the ONLY symptom I got was water loss. No oil emulsification (sp), no overheating, No Hydrocarbons in the water. Its got worse until it eventually overheated very quickly, leading to me needing the head skimmed. The garage said its common when the locating pins sheer.
  13. Good god! Did they have many psycological problems after?
  14. We used the ferry a few years ago and I would never do it again. Its not too bad on the way down but the way back is a real drag. We have both decided we are going to share the driving and blast down in one, possibly 2 days. The bonus I guess of just being us without any rugrats to entertain.
  15. Brickhill is hired out to clubs, the owner doesn't open it to the public. There's the Devils pit in Luton, Speen which in Near High Wycombe, Or Avon Dassett which is the other side of Brackley.
  16. You have got Frogs Island just down the road, or if you can get it to Bicester, Mark Smith's is a good place. They do anywork on my truck that I can't manage. Never had bad service from them.
  17. Perhaps a self levelling cubby. A few hydrolic rams and a bt of fab time and you are away!
  18. The 90 in the link ws after a quick look for a white td5 90 - There aren't many on there. Keep looking, there will be something suitabe. As for my ex hire truck, the 200tdi lasted 99,000 miles before the 4th cylinder got scoured and rattleed so much in the bore the engine ran away with itself. That had been serviced by the company, but they guys on site had been putting redn diesel into it as they weren't fussed about running it on the road after they handed it back.
  19. Most do that - I guess there is no real answer, for example, as you getting it level when the truck is empty or loaded? With or without a trailer attached? If you have a genuine cubby box, do you have the cup holder inserts too?
  20. A quick look on ebay..... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1999-V-reg-Land-Rover-Defender-90-TD5-7-Seats-PX-SWAP_W0QQitemZ260521978096QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAutomobiles_UK?hash=item3ca851e8f0
  21. My old 90 was an Ex hire vehicle and to be honest it was a bag of nails. You can do a lot better than that for the money that you have. I would suggest that a TD5 90 SW would not be out of your budget. Does your budget include the insurance, or is that the fund for the vehicle? If your still looking in the new year I don't mind helping out in the local area. Seruiosly, don't let your heart lead your head, I have done that too many times!
  22. Like Mike I started with a store chest and a short draw, but when I transfered to my 110 I decided to get the longline draw instead.
  23. Fair enough. They do hold a lot of stock and with 3 showing on their computer system I would have thought they would have one at lleast. At least they were open - its more than I can say for my local parts supplier!
  24. I have to say have used them many times without an issue. I know they have had a change in staff recently so things may have changed. Having things on the computer and then not being there is not something new, Whilst xmas shopping both Curry's and PC World said they had Ipod speakers in stock, neither did.
  25. I was happy to do it if needed, but from memory it wasn't. Remember trying to take the bumperette off and having major dramas!
