  1. Just a couple of stickers, can't afford anything shiny at the mo. Luke
  2. Railway Sleepers work well. trolley jacks and axle stands are useful too. If you get bits of trunk, i'd want to make sure they're cut square. Luke
  3. ah ha! that's it, I think it might have been a link you posted that i read it on, John. Luke
  4. Nope, it's because something else goes where the 5th would. I can't remember what, i read it on another post. Luke
  5. in that case i'd be up for a couple, prefer 7" but 11" would be ok Coooooool Luke
  6. are there going to be ones with the glue on the back, like normal stickers? Luke
  7. I'd though that, nice analogy!! Luke
  8. yup you need that extra oversized nut to stop the rivnut turning. I used an old socket with molegrips on it. oilling or greasing the washers really does make it a lot easier. I've fitted about 8 rivnuts using that setup, for my door locks and snorkle, the bolts become disposable items as the thread gets a bit chewed up after a few goes. Luke
  9. ahhh but would the blues clash? would a contrasting red be better!? B) Luke
  10. I'm interested, but i can't decide blue or red dual fan as in two stages of cooling? which temperatures does it switch at? I'd only be running one fan on my 200tdi, and have been thinking/looking at varaible output senders, with an adjusting pot in the circuitry. any advice? I was planning 3 indicators, fan on, fan overidden off, and fan should be on, possibly with a buzzer too. and a switch for on off and thermostat controlled. Ta Luke
  11. Electric winch - over runs, slows down as the load is applied, knackers itself after anything over a few minutes...... Hydraulic winch- constant speed, all the time. will pull an elephant or two, keeps going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going No question if you ask me, just need to save up Luke
  12. when i fit my snorkle in the next couple of days, I'll block it and check for leaks, stalling etc. In the future, i shall probably repeat this test often to check for leaks. If the breathers are connected to the airbox, everytime you did this test you would be applying full engine suction to your breather - no thanks, i'd much prefer to keep the two seperate. my opinion. Luke
  13. That's the Evans Performance and Protection one. www.evansuk.ltd.uk
  14. ta jez, the pig has been a great inspiration. any recommendations for a decent grinder? I've been watching welders on ebay, doing a bit of research etc. also keeping my eye out for a 3.9 rangie on the cheap. Luke
  15. No, it's all good! What amperage would people suggest for LR work? From chassis welding, steering guards etc etc to lighter work as well. I can't remember what the one at home is. Ta Luke
  16. I'm taking her to Manby Pay & Play next weekend, that'll be dirty, and a lot less than £200!! B) well assuming i don't break anything..... Think i'm erring towards a compressor at the mo. Luke
  17. Thanks Si, useful post. Got a few things on your list already. Any ideas on where to pick up decent second hand MIGs? not amzingly keen on Ebay, don't trust it as i haven't really used it, visous circle i think. Cheers Luke
  18. Hi, Niall, Any decent websites for migs at decent prices? btw, got a new touchscreen so should have the ITX up and running in the 90 again soon. Luke
  19. My 2p , for what its worth. A lot of the articles on here are way above and beyond what is usualy covered in a lot of the magazines. The depth of the write ups, the technical accuracy and on going development/reporting are way beyond what the magazines can muster. If articles from here were going to end up in any magazine, the original author should certainly be credited, and rewarded for the hard work and effort they have put in. I don't see that this site has to be the middle man, if any magazine would like to cover an article, surely approaching the author is the best way. Journalists get paid to write articles, some of which are frankly rubbish, both in terms of technical accuracy, and biased opinion etc etc. I don't see why magazines should benefit from well written, technical, articles for free. Luke
  20. Errrr Cheers Les If i was given the money, i would have put it towards a welder, but they'd like to actually buy me something. Ta for the offer though Luke
  21. Scrap-Iron aren't getting any of it, thats for sure! looks like £200 is only just half of a decent MIG set, and far too much for a nice grinder. There are a few compressors around for that sort of money, I don't know exactly what to look for, for that sort of money its 2HP 8 CFM and 115 PSI, is that up to running most tools and ok for spraying? The other idea was a rolling storage chest to hopefully organise myself a little bit, rather than having stuff all over the place..... Bobbing and king cabbing a range rover is a project i'm aiming to get off the ground, so that gives you an idea of what i'm after. I'm in the process of moving away from home and setting up on my own, so i've left behind a Mig, pillar drill, chop saw, grinders, compressor and to say im missing it all is an understatement. Cheers Luke
  22. Afternoon all, It was my birthday last week and relatives abroad would like to buy me a present, trouble is i've been asked what I'd like. I've been given a budget of £200. So far i've been thinking about either a roller tool chest, or an air compressor. Does anyone have any other ideas? it's been quite hard trying to find things for that sort of figure, that are up to the job, and not overly expensive, if you know what i mean? Cheers Luke
  23. I use the power toy, does the job nicely and easy to use, plus it's always there on the right click menu. Luke
  24. How many tyres can you air up with one of those?
