  1. You can ask him to contact me here directly : www.thegreenlanecompany.com Please mentione "Modified vehicle for France" in subject line. Otherwise Mr. SPAM Eater could get him....
  2. Bon Soir. Getting a UK IVA is useless for France as JLR France must issue a CoC (Cert. of Conformity) for a vehicle to be immaticulated. No, it is not easy, no it is even more difficult if you do not speak the language and no, the CT man (French MOT) will tell you not everything. Yes, more is possible than you think. You will be told that it is not possible to change fuel type in France - yet I have a fully legal fuel type changed vehicle on French plates. It is far more complicated and waay less black / white than most, esp. the French, say. So... What vehicle are we talking about ? What has been modified ? What does the chassisnumber say the vehicle should be ? PM me if you want but I'll be in the UK next week so be a bit patient... Bon Courage !
  3. We ran a 2.25 Turbo charged diesel back in the 90's and it is possible. We used a turbo from the 2.5 and it takes a few mods but, bh., it is not worth it. You could end up with a lot of work for an engine that lasts very short. Diesel upgrade : 200 / 300 Tdi. Petrol : 2.5 is very nice... V8 a bit ott. Have Fun.
  4. Think it is worth holding on to it. As you say, lots has changed and this very much covers anything LandRover"ish". All you will have problems with is exporting to another EU country - but within the UK you should be fine.
  5. As some of you like older tractors, hope you like these. Transported this Grey one for the new owner.
  6. Goede Avond Thijs, 2.5 Petrol from LR are very, very nice engine if you set them up properly. They take LPG well but obviously, Dutch Houderschapsbelasting is a killer. Keep it simple Have Fun
  7. Excusex... Used to be blond... I'll get to me corner and cry
  8. It is not easy in France. But a lot more is possible than most think. Bit like Germany really. Everybody "know" you can't do anything to a vehicle but actually a lot is possible is you follow procedure and get thing TüV Geprüfd.. I have a LR where the fuel type has been changed. Impossible in France but I did id legally. Paperwork is my world. But is it getting more and more difficult - some call it progress...
  9. "english is not my native tongue" Know the feeling - Me not speak English either... Hope that transferbox ratio works for you. It doesn't in my 110... Interesting project.
  10. Looking good. I'll be fitting a 200 Tdi into a SWB soon.. You can get shorter belts so moving the alt. should not cause too many problems. Not sure what you mean by "topedo" ?
  11. Bonjour Gazzar ! Yes. ECU's rule these days and although clever intelligent people get around that - several people on this forum proof that it can be done - it is not that simple when you're not in countries where that is still -/+ common. It is difficult in France to find a good mechanic, let alone one that likes to work outside the box. Hell, getting a RHD V70 serviced in France in almost impossible because "the engine is the other way around"... Also, it is getting more and more difficult to do it legally. And although this is something a lot of people find less interesting, in my line of work it is an issue. The Mazda is a good option and having had a few, I really, really like them and it works well. But apart from one that is said to be 6 years from new with only 14k miles, you're looking at a very much "period" engine. The Nissan etc engines, too, are getting on a bit. Drove the 200 Tdi Ninety last night and it really does go well and for a 30 year 4WD vehicle it is quite good. Perhaps I should do the smart thing and just accept the 300 Tdi in the 110 and leave earlier. And buy a T....a for heavy towing. Coffee..
  12. Wanna buy a 4 door RRC body minus engine & transmission ? Delivery to you could be discussed ?
  13. I'm a Certified Time Traveller If I think it is worth it, I'll go and get it. We build a 109" Cherry Picker where the CP came from Ireland and the 109" from Essex. The Hard Top was sold when the vehicle was in Holland for the Truck Cab to be fitted and the removed Hard Top was sold to a Italian Friend who went to live in Finland. The 109" PU was eventually transported to France where I fitted the CP to it. It then went around Europe for a few years to people who needed it for all kind of jobs in 9 countries.. Eventually, the CP was sold to be used on a UniMog in Romania and the 109" went back to the UK to be used by friends to build a Dormobile... So getting a RRC for the Mazda engine is really not that special for us...
  14. Just contacted the seller Yes - but somehow the shipping from your part of the world to here would make it difficult these days. I used to work in airfreight and life was much easier then.. Thanks for the tip.
  15. If he doesn't like it, we can swop against a Tdi... Seriously, I've had several and a good one is about as good you can get in a LR or RRC. Look after it and it will just go. The last one was sitting in a OneTen CSW with a 50th aniv. Defender ZF mated to it and that was about the best thing do drive... I delivered into the UK with the 90 on a 3-axle trailer. Over 370 miles in France we did 60 MPH average on the GPS... And it did break a sweat... I had to sell it but still miss that one. A lot.
  16. You have a point Garry - I def. don't want to "cobble something together" ! However, getting the special bits for that conversion is a problem here.. Can't remember having seen the 3.9 in a Defender here.. and..... back to 4-speed ? Hmm... Love to get back to Mazda 3.5 Tdi but so far, only 1 came up and that needs a lot of work to run properly again..
  17. I have made a cradle for that on wheels - but our 110 & 90 are higher on their wheels - and that is in high demand... Most people have a go and lift it while under the vehicle - not a smart thing to do unless you are into weight lifting. Some people fit a good solid beam inside the vehicle against the veiling and after rolling it under the vehicle lift it through a pulley attached to said beam. Be sure to to support the thing before getting under the vehicle again. Pulley attached to enginehoist also works usu. quite well. Good luck.
  18. Thanks - more food for thought... Hmm.... Want to try and stay away from ECU's and the likes as we go to remote places with not always good fuel.. Pref. 4 cyl. me thinks having now seen the 6 cyl from a BMW in Stage One and there is not a lot of space left .. Cummins is about 104 BHP ????? That does not sound a lot when looking for more power, sole & towing, and a wee bit of speed. Cruising at 70-75 mph would be nice..
  19. Hmm..... You guys sounds as if this is not the best route for the 110 powerplant.... So... who has a good working Mazda 3.5 Tdi for me ?
  20. And this is the other one that he has : Is that a LT95 gearbox with a 1.61 transferbox (filler opening on top) attached to it ?
  21. Right..... Just got these pics. What are we looking at ? Seller thinks it is mated to a LT77... Should come complete with everything to make it run.
  22. Thanks you all very much. Eagerly awaiting further info. I'd like to have a bit more power than the 300 Tdi can deliver and ideally I'd fit a Mazda again but they are not easy to find these days.. I really, really miss my 110 CSW with the Mazda and ZF ......
