  1. Don't even go there. Vehicle is no longer as homologated and therefore you're going into a minefield. Good ABS should be trouble free and allows people to just hit the brakes without too much thinking.
  2. Bonjour - welcome to the Madhouse Sophia & Henrik ! Great Greenlaning in Spain. Come on over to France one day - nice here.. and 20 is young..... My youngest is 22, the most mature one 53.
  3. I have just fitted a transferbox to the 110 from Synchrogearboxes. (http://www.syncrogearboxes.com) Shabs rebuilds the boxes and so far I'm very happy. In fact, I'll be collecting a rebuild gearbox & transferbox for the Series from him.. ... and I need to travel 1,200 miles to get them.
  4. What Vehicle ? What Country ? Will your insurance company cover you ? Not an easy answer.
  5. So am I.. We're too busy with work and the rest so I need the 110 on the road. Before I take to the roof, I may want to have an external roll cage on it and that will take some time, money and effort as the last few ones we did were not perfect in fitment...
  6. ... but quite a few horses !!!! :) :) :) :) One small pipes makes a HUGE difference for the 110 ! Thank you all - turbo to pump boost pipe makes a LOT of difference !
  7. Oh well.... Let's have a Dutchman say something.... Having towed almost anything everywhere I was always a bit weary for 3 axle trailers. However, since buying both a Hulco 3-axle 3.5 MAM (2.800 kgs. payload) and a 2-axle Saris tipping trailer (3.5 MAM (2.705 kgs. payload) we can compare head to head... The 3-axle is really good for longer distances and heavy loads. Very stable, very much self carrying and in less need for nose weight as a twin axle. But you need to experiment with loading. The underdeck tires really need 6.5 Bar and I have had no problems to get them at various places in the UK for around 60 ukp. We have the 13" tires filled with Nitrogen and it does make a difference as we like to tow at speed and they do run a bit hotter than the 14" ones under the tipper. Under inflated tires are the main reason for punctures with these small ones. We carry a very high pressure bottle with Nitrogen for this purpose as most pumps do not make it to 6.5 Bar and you end up with just not enough pressure in them. Reversing with both is easy. I like the 6 tyres for having a blow out and still have a few left. Emtpy, they both are around 800-900 kgs. so they behave well. Pushing them around is for both not an option. As I have all licences, towing is never a problem but we do have interesting discussions from time to time with various people in uniform who think they know better.... However, I make living out of transport paperwork so most of the times..... Both trailers needs money for maintenance etc. We have spare tyres we carry and they are parked out of the sun (quite important here) on concrete standing with sand on it to make turning less difficult.
  8. Great Pics ! Many thanks for sharing and keep them coming, please !!
  9. Ideally, you could try to find a ZF from a 50th Aniv. Defender as that has the correct length. The length difference is about 45 mm. I was offered one when said 50th was converted to an ECU controlled version from a DII and that worked very, very good. We used said ZF behind a 3.5 Tdi Mazda in a 110 CSW and for the box oilcooler a BMW donated his piece of art that was fitted in front of the radiator. The kick down ass. can be taken from any 300 Tdi auto box set-up, Disco I or RRC. We made our own. The tunnel covers for an Autobox are serious money but we made one from aluminium.. Have Fun.
  10. This is, like already pointed out above, the moment to do the bulkhead. We have several bulkhead galvanized and they eventually will fit if you do all the repairs on the chassis before having it dipped. You may need to apply some forces to get it back in but nothing a hi-lift and a few ratchet straps can't solve. Getting one from a supplier is no guarantee that is will fit perfectly as we all know LR tolerances... It will add a few days to the build as new pipes, some electrics etc. will come up to do at this time.. Have Fun !!
  11. It all depends on how you'd like to monitor, the budget and the idea behind it. Voltmeter ? Good idea. Speedometer ? Said to be required.. Tachometer ? Hmm. Water Temperature ? Durite make a direct swop one Engine Oil Temperature ? Durite make a direct swop one Engine Oil Pressure ? Durite make a direct swop one but why.. Fuel Gauge ? Durite make a direct swop one Gearbox temp ? Hmm. do you have any hard data to read it against.. However, I prefer a system whereby is all is well I do not need to look at all sorts of gauges. Less to see, less to distract. Have Fun.
  12. If you're unsure you could consider getting it done for you. If you get it wrong, it could be nasty. But the question is : why ? Voltage will tell you a lot and is easy to install. Flux "clamp on" amm meters are easy to use and can be handy when testing.. Good Luck !
  13. Some we made Ex. factory like that for expeditions, utilities, fire brigades, recovery...
  14. It is very true that the tablet / mini PC / etc. as a multi use device is handy for a lot of things, other than navigation. However, 1 : 25.000 maps of the Continent are not that easy to find and although I am not a great fan of Garmin's policy about the locking of products to hardware etc., the quality of their maps and the hardware is very good. I love biggish screens and the 7200 has a rather large screen and although regarded as "mature hardware" these days it works very good for us. Above the navigation desk in the Hybrid. Old school stuff but works very well for us. The 7200 works also with coordinates aswell as with "postcode" like destinations. The Brantz is worth weight in gold.
  15. Interesting read this. Funny how non of you seem to be using Garmin maps or devices. In France, or the rest of the Continent really, I don't really have much choice...
  16. Well, just asked the "Boost Control Pipe To Fit 300 tdi" to be sent off to France so it should find it's way here some time late next week. By the time I'm back from the Holland / Poland / Belarus trip it should be here.. Will be really interesting to see what the difference will be.. Thanks Guys.
  17. Thank You all very much ! Next : finding one without having to re-morgage the house...
  18. Nothing there. Just had a look at at 200 Tdi and there is a simular pipe from the turbo to the pump (ERR1458) Looking at the 300 Tdi, that one is different as it point the other way on the 300 Tdi. Can't really find a part No. yet.. Help !!
  19. Banjo thingie I understand on the pump - but where & what on the Turbo side ?
