  1. Yes - that is exactly what I was talking about. Nothing.. So... What part (no's) do I need to connect them ?
  2. I have never been too impressed with the 300 Tdi in the 110 as it seemed always a bit underpowered compared to the 200 Tdi in the Ninety. Reading an article on different boost pins in a LR Magazine, I noticed that I seem to miss something on mine. Does this missing bit make a lot of difference for the performance of the engine ? What do you think ?
  3. We have used Hi-Lifts, winches and sheer grunt for this. However, the questions is what caused it ?
  4. We use this for the various switches.. - Pre Glow plugs - Starter - Rear worklights (a lot of LED's..) - Rear Fog Lights - Blower (heater) Later I added a double USB charger socket on the left.
  5. Yes, GSM controlled switches are around but I am not happy with the sort of other use these devices have. Various options. We have a separate battery for heating, lights etc. A very - as in BIG - HD thing that powers everything not engine starting related and has never let us down, even on weeks of camping & heating. But they do use a few amps and will eventually drain any battery. We have the batteries inside and heated - gives them much more power in the cold - and have a coolant heater so we never ever have start problems. On the other vehicles we use cheap winch remote controls and that works fine. About 50 mtrs. range. I read there are somewhere WiFi ECU / PLC's for 12 volt applications but know nothing about them - what we have works for us.
  6. Yes - my 300 Tdi auto had LR Cruise Control. But..... It was German Spec so not sure about UK models. Works very well. Don't think that, like the Disco II, the wiring etc. is there already.
  7. Our good friend, Mr. Frank Elson, did a write up on this some time ago in LRM and prepare yourself for a good old fashioned battle. It will not be easy but have a fight and get all the legal you can get. Bon Courage !

    Theft!

Old idea but a legal minefield : entrapment. Where I live we solve these problems ourselves : effectively, cheap & swift.
  9. Yes..... what the man says.. The dealer should be able to help you but he will ask for some paperwork to proof the vehicle is yours - and that you are who you claim to be. And ask him, just to be sure, to have the other keys to be blocked. Bon Courage !
  10. It happens... And a lot more than we all want. Yes - dogs etc. help but be careful, James, our German Sheppard, once took hold of an arm and did not let go until the owner of said arm nearly bled to death when he tried getting in the 110... The Gendarme was not too impressed when the guy wanted to press charges and told him that if he really wanted to do that he'd just walk away, have a coffee and come back when the dog was finished with him as that would save a lot of paperwork... At least they didn't try to steal the horse - that has happened before... Save Travels
  11. Talk to specialists about your situation and see what they say.. But rebuild / recon / overhauled / whatever things are always a bit of a gamble.. I'm again in the UK later this month and one of the things I'll be collecting is a rebuild Series III gearbox & Transferbox to go into the Hybrid. As this "DIY Overhauled" gearbox survived 24 years of abuse, drowning and other joys of life I have hope this "new" one will outlast me. Esp. as we are talking it a bit easier these days with the Hybrid....
  12. We have FirstFour ones. Simple, good stuff and strong. Not the cheapest. But we keep coming back there for stuff.
  13. AFAIK you can activate the LR on that is already in the system. Do a search as this has been covered a few times. Think LRM did also a write up on it.
  14. The short : NO - I'd refuse to attach anything to them and we tell clients to bin them. I'd suggest Jate Rings.
  15. Sorry - has to be 25 years old before you can consider importing it. It has to be 100 % original and you need a lot of paperwork to proof that. As so many were not legit - US Customs is very critical on LR products.
  16. Thank you very, very much... Great to hear yours is doing well - and better soon !
  17. We use them a lot and the clients love them. Most find them easier to read than maps - esp. as these days people are so used to SatNavs... Good software to create them is not cheap but well worth the investment if you like making routes off maps and see how it goes. You will need a good odometer (mileage / km whatever) to make it work - we have Brantz systems in the LR's for the navigator and they are well worth the money. Have fun !
  18. When we bought this place, I was told I could build about 3.300 M2 of barns before needing an exempt..... That's a lot of barn... They are different the French and that is part of the fun living here. Being Dutch, we have to be very careful to stick to the law as much as we can but in general we are having not too many problems. The 109" cherry picker was used a few times around neighbours to cut trees etc. before it went and that must have done some good. And the Mrs. driving around in an 8x8 no doubt helps...
  19. Thanks - this is the sort of opinion I'd like to hear. As some may know, I've had a few 3.5 Tdi Mazda engines in both RRC and 110 CSW and love the conversion - esp. mated to a ZF.... Strong & simple. However, they are getting very hard to find - good ones that is. I've been looking around for alternatives as the 300 Tdi in the 110 is well used, does the job - just - but is an unknown quantity. Obviously, the 300 Tdi can be rebuild / overhauled / etc. but still is in standard form around 110 - 120 BHP and just a bit more would be nice. That's what the Mazda 's did so well : just a bit more power, more toque and no oil leaks.. In Holland, the conversion was about € 7.000 + VAT at the time and that is serious money. In France I have yet to see one for sale and also in the UK they are not often around looking for a new home so I have no idea what money they do nowadays..
  20. New ones ??? Yes - please tell me how yours is ! I like to suffer...
  21. OK - If more people are interested, I'll try to get some work done and get started on the tread. Building France as a Dutchman is interesting at times...... Took 48 hrs. to get the building permit.
  22. Very well Done - good reading. Nothing beats having a covered workshop when works needs done and you have to swim outside under your Land Rover... I have a temp. ABRI for the horses and sitting at 1,500 Ft. we get our share of wind. I have used 4 IBC (the plastic 1,000 ltr. pallet tanks) to secure the thing. If the wind takes off with 4 tonnes of anchors, I recon anything will go.. If the good people on this forum are interested, I can start a workshop build tread.... Having left behind a 560 M2 heated etc. workshop in Holland when we moved to France, I have now finally taken back from the horses the beginning of a workshop. Next week I start building the 13 x 6.5 mtrs. ABRI for said horses, to be followed by the 26 x 6.5 mtrs. ABRI for firewood, hay & 3 Land Rovers.. And I really, really plan to put the 4-poster ramp in there I took with me from Holland. Once the hay has a new place to be stored, I can take over the next bit and enlarge the workshop to 11 x 8 mtrs. Concrete floor, 3-phase but no heating. Yet.. ABRI is the French word used to describe a 3-sided & roofed building used on farms etc. for storage. Not sure what the English word is though. Sorry.
  23. Thanks for the link - wonder why I couldn't find it... 100.000 kms, knocking sound, shell(s) problem and ..... "engine now in Germany" Interesting add but too much money for a "project engine" that sits on the ground, can't be heard running etc. Hope people with the 2.8 come by and give their honest opinion.
