Mo Murphy
Morning all, any one know how the the clips in the photo in the link fit ? https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-STC2952 TIA Mo
miketomcat
I think they hook round the back of the bump in the middle of the backing plate then over and under the securing pins. Mike
western
As above IIRC.

Mo Murphy
Aha so they replace the coil springs on the retaining pins then. Thanks chaps, much appreciated 👍 Mo

western
Mine has the coil springs on the clips on front & rear calipers they work fine.

They never looked right to me Ralph. The end of the coil sits ajar in the hole in the pad the pin runs through. Just thought it looked naff and like it would do less than the original setup. western
I can't remember what was on there originally as I retro fired vented disc & calipers years ago.
Landrovernuts
I find the wire clips much better than the spring type as they actually stop the pads rattling in the calliper - which the spring type don’t!
western
Never noticed any pad rattle on mine with the coil springs on the pins.
cackshifter
I think that's literally all the springs do - stop the pads rattling - so it's probably not crucial. It's not like the only sound you can hear in a Tdi Defender is the clock ticking. I must admit it annoys me the way they rust, I am casting round for some suitably more durable replacements. Mo Murphy
Well I've fitted them, the brakes work and they don't rattle. All is well. Mo
Souster
The clips Mo linked worked far better for stopping pad rattle on 2 of my 90's. Really worthwhile fitting!
