We were scoping out a farm down the country for a possible offroad site and found this sad looking thing.

Series 1, 107 I believe. 2,500 miles on the clock

Bodywork looks in great nick. The rest of it is powder :(

I was chatting to a mate the other day about his rally car and the conversation got round to my liking of the Mk1, to which he replied you can now buy new shells for about 5K :o :o .

I was interested in another toy until he said the price

Is that for both mains and big-ends?

Is there any chance that the old 2 litre lump could've managed 102500 miles ? Doubt it personally, so you have probably managed to find a genuine low mileage gem. Shame nobody makes chassis for those old 107's

Bill.

I was wondering that myself. By why would it have been abandoned at such a low mileage.

The only thing significant I could see had been removed was the hubs.

Or I suppose the speedo cable might have broken, and the owner decided that was that, and parked it up :)

I would gladly send you 1000 cash if you could tow it to some sort of safehouse, and arrange purchase from the owner; if you could find them. Whatever is leftover after purchase, you can keep for storage until I can arrange a container to the u.s.

I must check with the guy, who knows the guy, who owns the land. I imagine he has no idea what he's sitting on, or rather what's sitting on his land, especially the Mk1 escort :o

As for your offer, emmmm, are you serious? Tell you what, if you find me a nice rust free TR6 somewhere in florida and ship it over to me, the LR is yours :D
