Exmoor Beast
As said in the title thanks to Devon 4x4 I have Lucys P38a back in time for our annual assault on the BBC Festive Good Food Show in London. With a week to go the damn clutch AND gear linkage decided to let go, I just didn't have time to do it, everyone else who would usually help me out was busy so the RAC (bless them) took it the 25miles south to Simon and Co I phoned them on Friday and explained the predicament and they had it in on Monday, got it back yesterday. Top work chaps. I had a chance to look at Simons new 90 yesterday, what a splendid bit of kit that is! Really really neat rear winch crossmember, if you want a rear winch on your 90 that has to be the way forward. Will

Simons car is stunning, A real credit and has taken vehicle builds to new level. It i think can be said to be the bench mark for which to aim. Oh, it didn't go bad either... white90
The snorkel arrangement looks odd IMHO though haven't spoken to Simon to see why he has routed t through the cab then out the back load area. possibly due to the breathing requirements of the TD5? there are some good pics of the build up on the site HERE And HERE
Mark90
Nice build up, as to be expected really. A lot of work has gone into the details.
Zed
having all the toys in the workshop to do the work yourself + people who can do work for you if you cant + parts at "slightly " better cost then the rest of the world = GREAT TRUCK (wonder how much would it cost me?? ) not being nasty just jealauos
D9OSV
The snorkel arrangement looks odd IMHO though haven't spoken to Simon to see why he has routed t through the cab then out the back load area. possibly due to the breathing requirements of the TD5? JJ keally came up with this idea first. The reasons are quite simple. The TD5 requires a lot of air, particuaarlly when tuned. Thsi means a 3 inch snorkel (or larger). This is a large lump of kit and is difficult to place in the usual way (Up the side of the cage) because ti restricts vision is easy to knock of etc.... So Simon and JJ and have gone through the cab. This also means that deeper water can under taken with less risk of water ingestion. So all very simple really. There is somewhere a calculation that rally teams use to work out snorkel diameters, againist hieght of intake, lenght of snorkel and size of engine verus air required. But common sense is usally good enough Right, must dash am fitting a through cab snorkel to a Td5 Defender.......Customers Jim Ps: If ever in doubt, use bigger tube Edited November 30, 2005 by D9OSV

will_warne
Nige, I've been thinking about a rear snorkel once I've traybacked. It would help with the breating and both the underbonnet plumbing as I could put the airbox in the back of the cab and then out. Its hard to do the a hardtop, though.
