ukspike Posted February 24, 2011 Share Posted February 24, 2011 Hi guys, second question for the night, I gave the ninety a service at the weekend, changed all oils except the engine, the garage that I brought it from only two months ago did that, The swivels, I Could not find the level plug or the drain plug for these, the truck is a 2003, I did find the plug very near to the top of the swivel, but surly this is not the level as well is it???, any help would be most appreciated. Puffernutter Posted February 24, 2011 Share Posted February 24, 2011 On my swivels there is no "level", I just fill with a sachet of "one shot" grease after I have been playing with them (changing seals etc.) or when there is obvious signs it has all escaped! Retroanaconda Posted February 24, 2011 Share Posted February 24, 2011 There is a single filler plug at the top on later models. No drain plug, Land Rover decided to omit it to save a few pennies. Puffernutter Posted February 24, 2011 Share Posted February 24, 2011 Remove the threaded plug towards the top of the swivel. Cut the corner off the one shot grease sachet. Align the two, squeeze, then clean all the one shot grease off the swivel, surrounding area and floor when it goes everywhere Don't ask me how I know.... duncmc Posted February 25, 2011 Share Posted February 25, 2011 My March '95 300tdi 90 had EP90 in the swivels when I got it from a LR dealer in Sept '96. And the Dec '96 300tdi that I have just bought has grease in, but still has the level plugs and drain plugs. Of course the grease could have been put in since. Les Henson Posted March 27, 2011 Share Posted March 27, 2011 Should be one sachet per swivel, although it's quite common for people to put an extra 1/2 sachet in.
