Move over..... Defender coming thro'

You'd need to be very careful in any country as impersonating a police officer always carries a hefty penalty.

You could of course, if you have a hankering for blue light driving, join the police, ambulance or fire services rather than be a wannabe !

Mo (who drives quite legally on blue lights on occasion ;) )

my ambers are legal, i use my truck for allsorts, as a builder labourer, and farmer, and mechanic, and landscape gardener, and tractor driver, and contract tower, and roofing geezer, and Land rover show official from time to time, i need my beacons, (well i mainly put them on cos i am beaocn mad)

My land trover has done:

..AMBER

  • any vehicle’s indicators - well duh.
  • amber pedal reflectors or pedal lights - okay not this
  • reflected from a registration plate - ??
  • reflected from a road clearance vehicle - done road clearances in snow, trees blocking road, cattle on road, blocking roads off for wide loads etc..
  • reflected from a vehicle carrying dangerous substances - once strapped a 15 crate of budwieser bang on centre in my 12ft graham edwards trailer and drove around 7 miles back to my mates house like that.
  • reflected on some old or heavy vehicles - speaks for itself
  • flashing amber lights on
    • a road clearance vehicle - yep, as above
    • a bin lorry, - done some waste removals from surrounding area
    • a breakdown vehicle - many a times recovered broken down vehicles and fixed by the roadside
    • a vehicle with a 25 mph top speed - when i trailered my 15 crate to my mates
    • a vehicle wider than 2.9 metres - the tractor and trailer covers that one, also escorted log cabins to our house with brian
    • a roadworks vehicle - yep
    • an escort vehicle - yep
    • a surveying vehicle - yep
    • a clamping or tow truck vehicle - yep, tow recovering every noe and then
    • airport vehicles - i WISH
    • any other specially authorised vehicle..... LRMax organiser ;)

also you forgot to add, front facing amber roof markers are legal.

it's actually illegal to have anything resembling 'blue -- special warning lights' fitted even if the are not switched on.

Certainly is, the only unofficial exception is for bona fide preserved [ie classic / old / preserved] emergency vehicles. However that is unofficial and not written in law, even so the blue lamps are supposed to be removed and not just covered or rendered inoperative whilst on the public highway.

only if it's registered with NHS/DVLA as a ambulance/blood/organ transport, the use of blue lights is tightly controlled.

I was just taking the mick with my comment about carrying human organs and my subsequent post pointed out it was illegal to have blues at all, including a link to the reference...

Apologies if it came across differently.
