Freezing door locks?

Recommended Posts

Steve,

Where you say glycerine, will the likes of Vaseline do the same.. I had the same issue last year and pulled a door handle off trying to open the passenger door when it was frozen shut!!

Neil

Errrm maybe!!

As an angler I use glycerine to stop line freezing to rod rings and so it seemed a logical progression to try this with Defender door seals! I have not tried vaseline for this, but it might work. Your local supermarket normally has glycerine in the cake ingredients section - a little goes a long way!!!

On a related note, last year I used Halfords 'night before frost stopper' - well it was called something like that - and found it worked brilliantly. It completely stopped my windows freezing up.

I read that it's made from 1 part White vinegar to 3 parts water - so this year I'm going to give that a go.
