3" flexible hose

Chaps, I am looking for a bit of flexible hose 3", about 350 mm long. its trying to do a dogleg of about 3".I currently use corrugated stuff, but I am always a bit worried about it sealing on the metal tubes.

So far I found a 200 tdi intake hose, but its only 3" on one end:

So something similar, or can the 200 tdi bit be modified?

So what are people using for this?

the first option wont work, as it is not flexible enough, although superflex may work (hard to get in 3", but not impossible).

A 45 degree is too steep, but 30 or 15 might work, but pretty spendy. I still like a bit of corrugated to take up engine movement but have it smooth on the clamp on bit. maybe a humphose, but than the angle is a bit too big.

That corrugated stuff in the last link, again is corrugated and there fore no better than what I have now. that 200 tdi hose almost looks the ticket, but no cigar. It would be good if I could find one in some partsbin of sorts.

And scroll down to 'engine and brake air intake ducting'

My memory is struggling but I think thats the same as I used on my SJ, basically smooth inside with a helical wire wound rib for strength / flexability.

They also have other hoses that might suit. like some of these http://www.hoseworld.com/acatalog/ductings_hose_world.html

Bringing this one from the death again, I still use my crapy bit of corugated, and it is time for a solution. Any of the corugated mentioned above is pretty much the same problem, so I thought to have a look in the Landrove parts bin.

First we have this one:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RANGE-ROVER-CLASSIC-3-5V8-EFI-AIR-CLEANER-HOSE-/370508061084?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item564400599c

Can anyone confirm this is 3"? a length would also be good, but it looks 2 off these would work with a bit of aly tube in the middle.

In any case, is the rangerover v8 intake channel generally 3"? in that case, there are a few more options from the V8 corner partsbin if it is.

This was another idea:

http://www.lrseries.com/shop/product/listing/1041/517903-AIR-CLEANER-HOSE-PETROL.html?search=air

The good old 2.25 petrol intake hose. I think it was 3", but dont know a length. Can anyone confirm diameter and length? Also, i know on end is round, the other oval. I dont know if a new one starts round, and you have to form it oval, or whether they come oval as new.

Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hi Luke, dont fancy the one off route, it is spendy for something that is a very simple problem, plus I like a solution that is easy to replace. Standard landy bits tick those boxes very well. I just need to know which landy hose are 3" Id. Ros, dont fancy the scrappy too much, but i might go to my local one just to identify parts.

If I get a chance I'll take a look for you Daan. I'm on normal hours this week so its possibly closed by the time I get there. Even if its just so you know something is out there part-wise :)

I think this bit is on dad's 90 between the engine and airfilter-it's a retrofit v8 but using a missmatch of, but mostly genuine parts. I can check tomorrow and take a measurement/photo for you?

If you could, that 'd be good.

Daan, why not just make up a new crossover pipe that only needs a short straight pipe at the airbox end.

nice, simple and uncluttered.

I seriously doubt you'd need anything more flexible.

Hmm, considered it, but to do something nice, it would involve bending a 3" ali tube and welding the sump vent to it, Both of which I currently dont have the technology.

Hopefully these will help, The O/D is a tad over 3 inches, I didn't have a screwdriver to hand but can pull it off and get you an I/D tomorrow if required.

Yes, that will do. I reckon 2 of these are going to be the winner.
