elbekko
Might take a few years to spool up though
CwazyWabbit
Do you think they'll fit?........... in the back of a HCPU .... maybe but you'll probably exceed the axle loadlimit
smokinv8
Whats that white stuff on them? Is it in place of an intercooler?

JeffR
You might need longer studs to attach them

Maverik
Pop a V8 on the end of the compressor shaft and I'm sure it could be fired up...
CwazyWabbit
What speed does one of those spin at?
Ash.Witty
Are they B.B.C. Or A.B.B. turbos? I would say 15,000-25,000 Rpm.
duncmc
You would have to fit a huge bonnet bulge to cover them.

Maverik
Well considering the size of them you wouldn't want a bearing to fail at that speed They are ABB VTR-354-11 Turbo's. Hmm, thats kinda why we replaced them, more actually from the risk of them throwing a blade as apposed to bearing failure. But they're now obsolete so we decided to remove the operational service repair cost if one pops while its at sea. Extremly reliable on all accounts. Philip Tonkin
Are they B.B.C. Or A.B.B. turbos? I would say 15,000-25,000 Rpm. Aren't they the same thing. BB, BBC and ABB being mergers of companies.
Landrovernuts
Seen plenty of them before on the main engines of supply boats on Wartsila engines, as you say plenty reliable enough! Yes BBC and ABB are the same company. Toby
Ash.Witty
Went to ABB in Telford and had two of our turbos off a Mirrlees KV16 being overhauled, they were cast with bbc on but was told that everything is now under ABB as said above. Maverik
Now all the seriously heavy duty engineers pop up when they see the big stuff
TheRecklessEngineer
They're still babies in the world of marine diesels. That said, I think they're bigger than the turbos I've got on the ship I'm currently working on.
Landrovernuts
It seems there are plenty Marine Engineers that are Landy fans, including me! Must admit that I was steam for 90% of my time at sea until I went to the dark side!!! Toby
Highway_Star
My late dad would have loved those beasties I remember him overhauling a Garret something or other off a Saab 900 30 odd years ago, using the top of the garage chest freezer as a bench. Rather smaller than anything he had been used to in his days on skimmers
