Tetsu0san
Hi all Not sure if this has been mentioned but in the reforms being made on the TAX disc applications it seems that the SORN declaration only needs to be made once and will be continually rolling until the vehicle is TAX'ed again. Taken from the BBC website: "In addition, motorists will only need to tell DVLA once when they declare their vehicle off the road. Currently, motorists who make a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN) have to renew it every year. One million out of four million SORN declarations last year were repeats." Nice. Oh, and Merry Christmas!

ejparrott
I think it was announced in the March Budget this year
bluespanner
That's a good idea
Spongie
Only realised last weekend my 101 hasn't been SORN since 2007, and I bought it in 2011 I await the fine... Doh
Tetsu0san
I think you will probably get away with it. If you were going to be fined it would have happened already.
Bowie69
Yup... I think they struggle to enforce the fines in all honesty.
Retroanaconda
Well this will save having to do a SORN every year or lie about exporting now if you break up a car yourself
Tetsu0san
You mean that if you break your car you tell them that you exported it? Does that work?
western
there is a permanently exported or scrapped tick box on the reg document V5, just mark the relevant box & send the V5 in.
Retroanaconda
Yeah, that's what you'd do before to save having to do a SORN every year. But now there'll be no need
ballcock
there is a permanently exported or scrapped tick box on the reg document V5, just mark the relevant box & send the V5 in. I thought they removed the scrapped tick box hence the need to permanently export it after stripping.
Bowie69
I just checked a couple of V5c's and you are right, no scrap box I can see. Are they bonkers?
ballcock
The Idea is to ensure vehicles are scrapped through an end of life licenced facility.
Bowie69
I understand that, but it also means that, as usual, they can't possibly trust a member of public to do anything properly themselves without governmental interferences.
missingsid
It also meant that a racer/trials motor made from an old road car had to be continually SORN'd (or exported).
