Normbourne
G'Day Fellahs, My beast is a series 2a, 1967 and built in the UK. I live in Australia where the metric system has been adopted. What I need is a speedo calibrated in Kilometres, with the same dimensions etc. I had thoughts along the lines of just addng an alternative scale, but I wouldn't have a clue on how to proceed. So lads any ideas or does someone know where I can buy one....? Many thanks, Norm.
western
Speedo head here for Series 3 LR http://www.lrseries.com/shop/product/listing/9753/PRC2605-SPEEDO-HEAD-ASSEMBLY.html?search=SPEEDO&page=2 but I sus[ect you don't want to spend that amount of money, there is a kph scale on your already so making a KPH face or marking the existing face should be fairly easy. Bowie69
Military S3 Land Rovers have (or often have) a KMH gauge..... I know this is new, but you should be able to find one over there, as IIRC some of the Aus army used LR? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-OEM-Land-Rover-Speedometer-KPH-PRC2607-/151732311121?hash=item2353f35451
SvBeek
Have the same problem here in Holland with an imported 110 Just put a tipex mark on the most important speeds as an indication. Here its 50, 80 and 130 km/h, however the last one is difficult to do in a 2.25 petrol Maybe you could carefully open up the speedo and replace the back plate? Like you've said, km/h speedos are hard to find and expensive..

Normbourne
ok lads, all sorted, I have bought a "GPS" speedo, which should fix everything, no worries about tyre size etc., the only prob is it's diameter is only 85mm whereas the rover unit is 100mm. I'll have to think of something clever to mount it.... .. Thanks everyone, Norm.
CwazyWabbit
I'm sure I read that in the UK GPS speedos were not legal as the only speedo in a vehicle, might be worth checking what the score is in your neck of the woods Norm.... unless of course you are leaving the original in place. John Bourne
Hi All, Just wanted to say thank you for your input with this topic and others he has posted here. My father passed away late last year so the pressure is on to finish the S2a so I can park it next to my S3 which he and I spent many hours working on. Wish me luck with his rebuild, i have some mighty footsteps to follow in Edited August 7, 2019 by John Bourne
