WarPig
Do I need to remove my battery from my 300tdi to charge it, or can I just connect my Ctek charger to it whilst its still in situ? Would this cause any issues with the electrics? Cheers.
FridgeFreezer
What does the CTEK manual say?
elbekko
Never had any problems using a Ctek with the rest of the car still attached.
western
same here, but seem to have lost my ctek charger.
WarPig
Thanks. My 110 hasn't been getting much use lately since buying a GSA motorbike which is why the battery needs some attention.
Lewis
At work I occaisionally have to visit one of our customers who has a vast warehouse filled with vehicles with twin battery systems, with a ctek charger on each battery.
Escape
Only when using 'reconditioning' to bring a depleted battery back to life do I disconnect it from the vehicle. I don't take it out, just disconnect the earth when hooking up the Ctek. Works pretty well and kept several batteries going beyond expectations. ianl1
How would voltage sensing split charge kits cope with a ctek type charger?
Escape
When charging normally the Ctek will give a high enough voltage for the relay to keep both batteries connected. Not sure about the special functions though, like disulphate, trickle, recondition... I think the change in load when the split charge connects or disconnects will have an effect on the charging process. But the type I know has an override to keep both batteries connected regardless of voltage, so that should work provided the combined capacity of the batteries isn't (much) higher than the rating of the Ctek. Simon Smith
I've fitted an external charging point to my 110 to plug the Ctek into. Never mind disconnecting the battery, I don't even open the door
robertspark
my Ctek came with a fly lead and a moulded plug so it appeared that the fly lead with eyelet terminals was to be bolted to the battery terminals and the fly lead via the moulded plug to be left on trickle charge. as shown here in the manual: http://www.ctek.com/Archive/ProductManualPdf/MXS%205.0_EN.pdf http://www.ctek.com/Archive/ProductPdf/MXS%207.0_EN.pdf http://www.ctek.com/gb/en/chargers/MXS%207.
