  1. They do a 300 one: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F391230259052
  2. Not really - I came to Belfast a couple of times with work, but only got to see some office buildings ... My series 1 restoration is coming on well, so I’m planning for us to come over in that. 😊 One thing I can’t get a handle on is how many days I need to take, I guess that depends on how many things we stop for - and there seems to be a lot to stop for on that road ! The other thing I’m wondering is where to stop so the 80 will be safe - and wether that means camping where I can park next to it or finding some quiet B&B. Any suggestions or recommendations will be more than welcome! Stephen
  3. I’m planning to catch the ferry from Stranraer to Larne and drive the Causeway Road across the top of Northern Ireland. Has anyone done it and might have some recommendations? Particularly as for where to stay?
  4. Good grief - that’s over £900 😳
  5. Fridge, you’ve exceeded even your own standards this time.... 😂
  6. I read that Land Rover are keeping the patina and just doing a mechanical restoration.
  7. I’d like to put heated seats, a diesel air heater, and so on in my series 1 without taking away the period look as much as possible - these potentially offer a way to have a set up in the seat box that could be kept very discreet. Also if they are the beginning of something that offers integrated voltage sensitive controls and remote control, it would be a one stop shop for adding circuits.
  8. I like these ! Particularly the smartphone integration. Excuse my ignorance - but how would you wire a remote control switched circuit to work in parallel with a physical switch? It probably won’t Ben long before eBay is awash with Chinese versions?
  9. I’ve seen the sides trimmed with a cutting disc to make them fit - in fact I think Glenn Coyne suggests it in his fitting instructions.
  10. That’s really helpful Snagger - thank you 🙏🏻
  11. No sorry - the one in the picture is the original one ... I also looked at 2.25 petrol ones which fit. I’ll check !
  12. It’s such a long time since I bought it that I can barely remember - but I think it’s a Discovery 300tdi dip stick I’ve bought... I think it’s still got the part number on it though. I’ll have a look later on. Its been off so long I can’t remember where the o ring goes in relation to the olive.
  13. I think that’s a good plan - though I’d just put a gentle wire brush on the inlet manifold - mine came up quite nicely. in my ‘look what I brought home’ thread you can see some pictures of how it came up.
  14. That is interesting - and they’re only just down the road from me ...
  15. Our road tax keeps creeping up 😞 my Td5 was £285 in 2015, £290 in 2016, £295 in 2017, and now will be £305 in 2018. Its getting ridiculous.
  16. I hand painted my block and it came out pretty good. It was a bit lanour intensive, getting it clean(er) with little wire brushes and wiping it down with solvents. I found it strangely addictive.... I bought the right colour paint for the engine that would have been in my Series engine and it looks good.
  17. Just had a bit of a re-read 😊 Did you paint that diff you put in the rear axle? It looks a great finish on it. Couple more questions (and sorry if I’ve missed the answers) - What clutch are going with? Will you be painting the block? Enjoying following this
  18. So Vass have come back to me: they no longer sell Defender Wheels and tyres ☹️ They must have been selling off stock. My search continues.....
  19. Are any of the Rangie panels going back on? or has JWH left it’s RRC roots behind?
  20. Wow ! That’s an expensive relay !! I had been looking at this type: https://www.12voltplanet.co.uk/voltage-sensitive-relay-12v-140a.html?gclid=Cj0KCQiAvrfSBRC2ARIsAFumcm8DNznSGHmFS6qN4GxJi7Rsj4dgh_LK7U-XtBfSx0dbWLqvuyl_4JIaAuYaEALw_wcB i think I found them a bit cheaper somewhere else too.
