  1. I think 1.2 works better with a more powerful engine. One of the most useful changes for me was in coming out of junctions - with the taller gearing I could clear more road before needing to change up and that felt loads better.
  2. I have a map and get 30mpg. I fitted a 1.2 transfer box - but measured next to no difference in mpg, though I much prefer it.
  3. The freelander went when they worked out they could up the trim level, label it as a Range Rover, and get a much greater margin on it.
  4. Could you run what you have whilst you save up as if you were buying it bit by bit? Would that not work out cheaper?
  5. Thanks all .... lots to think about. Strangely - I’m going to miss having something to plug in... The only issue is mounting it - magnets not being so good on aluminium. I’ll have a look at those links - maybe there is a battery one with a clamps 😊
  6. I have my Dad’s old lead lamp - a caged 240v bulb on a big robust clamp, and it’s super useful. I’d like a 12v LED version, so I can plug it into the car and clamp it on the guttering and so forth. i can only find though a small number of lights with that form factor though - and they have a rather flimsy looking bolt on clamp and an expensive price tag. Has anyone seen one ? my plan B is to buy a 12v work light, extend the cabling, and then try and find a big chunky clamp that I can bolt it too... Any suggestions or pointers to products would be very welcome 😊
  7. Sounds like an episode George - you can cover your road trip. I don’t have any tools that would help - but I could make tea?
  8. @Mo Murphy I did get it set up in the end Mo - but I can’t remember what I did at the moment ... i think I set it up as you said - I didn’t bother with an intermittent relay, just the dual switch - push to wipe and hold to swipe (so to speak). I had another thread on here about it because I had a bit of an issue with it ... I’ll have a look for it.
  9. That’s amazing - what do you think powers the body moving? It sounds electric - but they must be pretty chunky motors in that case.
  10. I think Series swb rims are 5'' wide, Lwb rims are 5.5'' wide......?
  11. This is really helpful to me too. Thanks for asking Geoff and thanks everyone for sharing your wisdom.
  12. They are both 5.5” rim width - though the Defender rims may have slightly less offset than either of the two types of LWB rims ... someone here can perhaps quantify that ? ...but they do fit and are the same width.
  13. Have you thought about fitting late Defender steel wheels? So you get the classic series look but with tubeless tyres? its the route I’ve gone - and they do look the part. like this set of new take-offs on eBay at the moment: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F152354677668
  14. Should we be worried about the fact that we love shelving ? 😳💖
  15. I don’t use Facebook either
  16. We have the veg oil option on the 200 if they make diesel hard to come by.
  17. Negligible improvement on mpg? it was the huge increase on mpg from my 2.25 to 200 that sealed it for me.
