I have quite a big parts place near me - but they are really quite expensive and not really interested ... Shopping always involves being slightly shocked and mildly affronted.
Thus mail order ....
I also have to say I usually use Brit-car and I've never had an issue. My recent issues have been suppliers on eBay.
It's very true that - and when the undesirable or unwanted part arrives you've got the hassle and expense of sending it back. It happened to me a couple of times in the last two weeks - very frustrating.
It does look amazing - I kind of wonder how people afford to do that ?
I spoke to a chap who had done a fair bit of over landing on a bike and he said some interesting things around cost - around it being a state of mind to some extent, where by working a little the right times and moving on at the right times you could move towards a 'cost neutral' position.
I'm not sure how easy that approach is in a car as opposed to a bike - or travelling as a family rather than alone - but it's an interesting perspective.
Their eBay prices reflect the eBay fees - give them a ring and you can buy direct. I've bought quite a bit from them and have no reservations in recommending them.
Thank you Rick. I'll see how it goes - it actually looks quite good, but it was a cheap 1.2 box and this is really for me to see how I get on with the gearing.
I'm actually not sure - but what I would say is, buy it on the strength of the individual vehicle, not the factory spec.
I have a 15p 90 CSW now and it's fine - before that I had a 10p 90 HT and it was brilliant.
Ive just done this and I've a couple of questions ...
Do you knock it to flush or through until it stops ? Mine has gone in beyond flush and I can't remember how it sat before .... does it sit on a seat or is it a floating shaft ?
Also and possibly connected - I counted the turns off and marked it but I can't help but worry a little that it's gone on an extra turn when I've put it back. It fell off just before 5 turns taking it off - going back on 4 turns seemed very loose and 5 seems very tight
.... Though if it's supposed to only be flush at the front then would that affect the turns before it got tight at the back - or would tightening it simply pull it it through anyway ?
As an aside the o ring went in nicely and the old one was completely flat.
Thank you both. It'll obviously be a bigger to man handle and 'swill' around - but it seemed worth putting something through it.
If I may tag another question on : when swapping over the Lt230's would it be advisable to replace the seal in the end of the R380 ?
I've a new seal to fit the transfer box - but don't know if it's worth doing the gearbox one whilst I'm in there too.
As a budget alternative - I bought one of the manual ones, like this : https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00O9XNKE2/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_Ooyxvb1KPH907
I paid less than the linked one though it's the same type - and it's been very good.
