  1. I still haven't found my clunk - and its driving me mad! I'll post some questions again on the thread I started for it some time back.
  2. On earlier axles they weren't welded ... So they might just knock off Retro.
  3. That's right Ralf - although the top right circle isn't quite centred on the weld and instead intersects it. The ones underneath proved the more awkward simply because they are upside down.
  4. I'd forgotten about this thread until some one messaged me about it. My experience was the same as Steve G's -- ie they needed drilling. They wouldn't knock off - it became clear the bracket would bend and the cup tear before the spot welds let go. So I cleaned the cup with a wire brush drill attachment so I could see them clearer and then drilled them out. I did it a bit tentatively to avoid drilling the bracket - so did a bit and then knocked it etc Hope that helps anyone who comes to do it in future.
  5. Very short update is that I cut the passenger floor out to mount the hydraulic tank (pictured above) ...... and it doesn't fit. I hadn't thought of it before - but the tank came from an ex utilities 110, on which the trailing arm bracket will be further back. On a 90 the trailing arm bracket stops the tank fitting. So - I took a trip down to (john) Saley's who kindly spent time with me making suggestions and giving advice. He's going to make a tank up for me that will sit higher into the seat box (using the space the fittings would have taken) but that will protrude less from underneath. The fittings will be on the underside against the chassis rail and I'll use an external filter. I'll post up pics of it when its done
  6. Not sure who's ended up going - but I'm full of a cold so staying home ........ Looks like next year. I was hoping to wrangle a go on their ramps
  7. Come on LongLandy - don't hold back, tell us what you really think ?
  8. Saley was telling me there is someone near him who does this - and does a good job for a fair price...
  9. I only used the jack to lift the nose of the diff and control the rotation of the axle. The A frame only controls rotation and sideways movement of the axle - so no need to support anything except the rotation.
  10. It was OK to do on mine - but the bolts can be tough to get out. Partially undo the large ball joint nut and hammer it to release the ball's taper. Loosen the bolts on the housing - then chock the wheels and put a jack under the nose of the diff - to stop the axle coming out of alignment. Then you can remove the old housing. Mine did come out of alignment despite that, but I was able to wriggle the new one in though after making small adjustments with the jack.
  11. Here's a remix of the footage from my phone ....
  12. Or show her the one on ebay for £400 and say yours is a test to see if you can make them to sell ........ think of all the shoes she could buy with the profit from those .....
  13. According to their web site they are part of a chain: Link to find nearest outlet
  14. I'm re-uploading the video - will post up the link when it's finished...
  15. Agghh!! - that's what happens when you're tired ..... I might have to re upload that.... It is an odd sound track - there is a less edited version of it with no soundtrack, let me know if you want the link. I put the soundtrack on though because 20 minutes with only the video and sound of an engine on tick over seemed a bit much. The video shoots in HD. In fact that's shot at 720 - but it will shoot at 1080p. It will also shoot at 720 at 60fps - so you can slow it down for high quality slow motion shots. Not really appropriate for crawling on lanes though. I've a fair bit to learn about using it yet - I think I might try it with the brightness set higher next time. The clips from the POV camera are darker than those I took with my phone. If you have a HD TV the quality on a bigger screen looks excellent! This is the one I have - and its just come down a lot in price because a new model is now out. This is the mount.
  16. Thanks Ross! It took ages to upload - and now I've noticed bits of editing I don't like .... I uploaded it once before, but re did it to try and make it more watchable ! That said it you turn it to HD and settle down with a brew its not too bad
  17. Posting from my phone - so I hope it works. Pictures a bit dark to start with but gets a lot better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6Tg_VOPs8E
  18. Dan had asked me to show him round at the beginning of the year I think, and it kept getting postponed, so it was good to finally do it. If a few people wanted to make a trip up later in the year I'd gladly show them round ...?
  19. (As I saw at the weekend) you'll get transmission wind up.
  20. Excellent photos Dan ! and a really really enjoyable day. I didn't get too many pictures : Our second lunch stop ... But with a view like this .... who wouldn't have a 2nd lunch... Last lane of the day - 6pm and like a summers afternoon. The weather was so kind after its dull start. Bit blurry I'm afraid ... Dan not fitting on a small bridge... I'm editing together some clips and will post them up later on. It was a pleasure to meet you though Dan and I hope we can do it again before long
