  1. I have a Range Rover Classic 1993 with the LSD mounted in the transfer box, (auto locking diff some may call it), can I run different tyre sizes on each axle? 235/70 x 16 fronts, 255/70 x 16 rears? Will the LSD get confused and think the one axle is spinning? Any help/advice much appreciated.
  2. Thanks for the comments, I have tried fitting the tyres by hand, looks easy on you tube but I just could not do it. I have 2 tyres to swap around and so I feel that the cost is not £44.00 but £24.00. Will let members know how good/bad the tyre changer is.
  3. Have any members seen or used one of these? My local tyre place wants £10.00 per wheel to swap tyres around. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131415402927?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  4. Dare I mention that whom ever changed the belt, didn't change the belt???
  5. After going through some of my old magazines I found these which may be of interest.
  6. Check the air vents are shut and look out for flies/moths/spiders and the like in the cabin area. My alarm was playing up in sunshine, turned out to be a spider dropping/hanging down from the rear view mirror setting the alarm off.
  7. Is this type of wheel any good? http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/steel-wheels/volkswagen/t4-caravelle-california/vr6-19918
  8. Try Silverline, they have good choice of steel wheels. I think as well the P38 stud pattern is the same as VW vans and the like. http://www.silverlinewheels-tyres.com/
  9. Very nice truck. I doubt a top of the range Disco had a manual box, just some mistake by a pencil pusher.
  10. Fantastic finds Boydie, did you pick-up the trailer? I drive a Range Rover Classic Bowie69, but as you can tell, not very fast.
  11. Have you ever seen some mad idiot running back down the dual carriageway like he's on fire? That's me normally after I have spotted some float-some and jet-some on the side of the road, pulled over and ran back to retrieve some fallen treasure. It happened today, I found 2 yellow buckets in different locations, then I found an Anderson connector and leads with a huge piece of angle iron at one spot. Don't know what I will do with them, but certainly worth collecting.
  12. And their as cheap as chips. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-DEFENDER-DISCOVERY-STEEL-WHEEL-NUTS-PACK-OF-20-RRD500010-/370996447482?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&fits=Car+Make%3ALand+Rover&hash=item56611c88fa
  13. Some parts that you have spent a lot of money, (and time), fitting can make you think the car is worth more, but such as the windscreen, you wouldn't buy a car without a windscreen, the head, again time and money goes into replacing it, but a Discovery without a head. Running any vehicle cost money and most parts are consumables after a set time or mileage. You have 3 options, first sell the parts which may result in more money than the car is worth but over a long period. Second, sell the Land Rover as is for not much money, (just look around at Discos with 12 month ticket for less than £800.00). And your last choice, weld the car up, new mot and get the price you think it's worth.
  14. My old 200 tdi Disco ran on 100% vegie oil until the price went up to about the same as diesel. There is an oil used for oil paints, to thin the paint, clean brushes and the like. It's vegetable based but because it was not used for food it had none of the health and safety nonsense, plus, it was almost clear as it needed no flavourings or cooking qualities. The Disco ran best on that and it was as cheap as chips, (get it), worked out to 25 to 30 pence a litre in 2009.
  15. Even the heaviest of drinkers have moments of clarity.
  16. To compare a Classic Range Rover with any other car is complete folly, but to compare one to an Lexus! A car, least we forget, only driven by Chavs. Ironically, Quentin Willson used to drive a Lexus, I rest my case.
  17. I dropped my Bosch drill yesterday off some scaffolding, about 14 foot onto solid concrete. Apart from some cracks to the casing, the drills fine.
  18. Try a bulb and some wire to earth.
  19. I remember when I purchased a tidy stereo many moons ago, my speaker cable cost more than the speakers.
  20. Looks like tidy stuff, I like the tank guard with the removable tow hitch.
  21. I'd like to use as many off the shelf parts here as possible. I am hoping my down pipes will mate to a Td5 centre/rear set of pipes for a 110. I managed similar on my V8 90 - RRC 3.9 front section to Td5 90 rear. The tail of the V8 cat pipes measure Ø2.5". With regard to manifolds, there are loads of cast items floating around, Rover P5, P6, SD1, Morgan, TVR, Sherpa van, e.t.c. You may find one in your local scrap yard that may fit.
  22. Cheers CwazyWabbit, what about hi-fi speaker cable?
