  1. For reference you can just type "399.5 mm in in" into Google and it will work. It doesn't require the other words. It's also notable that it accepts all sorts of abbreviations like 'in' and 'ft'. And it'll even do compound units like mph/kph etc. Clever stuff
  2. I had the same thing (in John Craddock's car park of all places). Turned out the earth battery clamp wasn't provinging enough of a connection. It was enough to run the auxillary systems and lights, but on cranking it couldn't provide the juice. I discovered it when I accidentally bridged the clamp and the post with a multimeter and there was one hell of a spark
  3. In fact reviewing my finances I don't think I can stretch to the diesel required for an excursion out that way I'm afraid. Consider yourself back to four Mr Turbocharger. Hope everyone has a good time
  4. Yes as the engine is still driving the compressor/pump gubbins. That's what takes away your engine energy.
  5. In that case if you want to escalate things further the Small Claims Court is where you should head.
  6. How much current does a set like that pull off your battery then?
  7. I was at Alton Towers yesterday, they shut down all the rides for the two minutes. A great gesture I think, it was certainly surreal standing in the AIR station with nothing but the gentle hum of the ride to be heard.
  8. My heater works fine....just takes so bloody long to heat up. Damn efficient engine
  9. Decent nightvision will cost you well into the thousands! My physics teacher had a few sets (all very good) for airsofting at night. Work bloody brilliant I have to say. Have to say at the price I'd rather have a decent torch though
  10. http://www.maglite.co.uk/acatalog/LED_Upgrade.html £20 for an upgrade for existing Maglites
  11. Mmm, I've always had Maglites as torches, as I've always found them to be the best torches around. That doesn't include these new LED torches though, as I've never had one. I believe I will get one though, having seen some ridiculously bright ones while airsofting at night. Much brighter than my Maglite
  12. Surely though more volts = less amps, and vice versa?
  13. I can have access to a laptop with Memory Map if you like? I have all the 25k and 50k maps of Britain on there Damage wise, I'm not bothered by the odd knock or scratch...but I'd like to have all my windows and panels at least in once piece at the end of the day if you know what I mean Oh, and can we go via Tissington ford? Pwetty pwease? I love fords
  14. I'll take you up on that place Turbocharger, if no-one else has already? Edit: Oh, and it'd just be the Saturday I'm afraid, I can't justify the fuel cost for two days
  15. There are four bolts holding it in, two at the top which bolt into the bulkhead behind those wires in your picture. I believe they are either threaded or captive, but I didn't have to remove the dashboard. The bottom two bolts go through to the underside of the top of the passenger footwell.
  16. They appear to be very much spots, rather than floods, in the way they throw out the light. Or is that just the way the video makes it look? I would have thought a floodlight lighting up a large area would be better for off-road situations than a spotlight focusing on a smaller area.
  17. If people are offended by that they then clearly don't know how to take a joke, or even what one is.
  18. I'd love having to maintain them after being immersed in muddy, gritty, dirty water
  19. Hence my leaving a flap for any gasses to escape. My battery box is by no means sealed anyway, if the amount of water in there was anything to go by a few weeks ago I always connect the last earth connection to my vehicle away from the battery anyway, on the chassis somewhere usually. That's how I was taught to do it.
  20. Well it doesn't say on that website specifically, but I think if the socket you've bought is what they're referring to as a 'DIN/Hella socket', then normal cigarette lighter plugs won't work in it. Assuming you've got 12V at the socket as suggested above, that's the only reason I can think of I'm afraid. Might be worth checking with Mudstuff whether the sockets are 'standard cigarette lighter' or 'DIN/Hella'.
  21. Reason I ask is because on http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-...ches/12vacc.php there are DIN sockets and 'Cigarette Lighter' sockets.
  22. Is it the right type of socket/plug combo? There are two different types if I remember correctly.
  23. Well I was working on the same basis of people putting things in greenhouses and what-not. And as you say, if it doesn't help I haven't wasted loads of money. Thanks for the advice, I'll cable-tie it down tomorrow
  24. No. My old one was, myself and my dad made a clamp for it...but I don't have the facilities away from home to make a new bracket for this (bigger) battery. Will fabricate one when I get home mid-December.
