  1. Any mod/admin willing to pass judgement on whether I can post Memory Map up? Microcat was OK, so I assume this will be, but can never be too sure
  2. If you're going greenlaning then you can't really go wrong with Memory Map. It costs money usually, but of course there are other ways of obtaining it. I dunno if it's been posted before, I'm quite happy to post it up as long as the mods clear it first.
  3. Google: Land Rover Defender PCD Google says 5 x 6.5" (5 x 165mm).
  4. My 90 still has a set of BFG Trac Edges on it. Seems to do reasonably well Will be replacing them with BFG MTs when the time comes.
  5. Would be quite a hard thing to measure, but if I was going to try to I would do this: 1. Get the engine running and at a constant level (ie. idling and up to a constant temperature). 2. Measure the temperature of the water going into the heater matrix (temp probe of some sorts) 3. Repeat for the temperature coming out. If you could then find the flow rate through the matrix somehow, you could work out the amount of heat dissipated. I think. I use the same method in my PC's water cooling system, a temp sensor each side of the CPU cooler with the flow rate measured as well. The water cooling controller works out the amount of energy taken off the CPU into the water. I see no reason it can't be done the other way around.
  6. I had this sympton on my truck once. It turned out to be a dodgy connection, in my case on the battery negative post. It could handle the current of the solenoid going in, but when it tried to crank the engine it gave up. I'd make sure that all connections between the battery, starter motor and chassis are clean and free of corrosion.
  7. Remember there's also a matching drain valve on the lowest part of the inner-wing air ducting assembly. That is unless you've installed a snorkel that replaces this section.
  8. I would expect the hanging bit below, if present, to be at a height just below the stated height. So if there was a 7' height restriction, I would expect the lower part to be at around 6'6" or so.
  9. Or even better, make sure it is up to spec. Then you have nothing to hide. Those regulations are there for safety's sake after all, despite the aggro they cause.
  10. I'm no expert on braking systems, but I would be inclined to check the flexi pipes for any bulging under pressure, and then the pistol seals in the calipers themselves.
  11. I just have a pair of decent Magnums, they serve me well for everything in this country, reasonably waterproof as well. I use them both for airsoft and off-roading. Work equally well for both.
  12. I think it's... http://www.shop.offroadservice.de/ Taken from the image URL.
  13. It's not necessarily about being more or less efficient or good to the environment, the point with hydrogen is that providing you get your electricity from the sources I outlined above (ie renewable ones), it's pretty much sustainable for ever.
  14. Airsoft has suffered the same fate. Five years ago it would cost you £300 for an airsoft weapon, now they can be had from £100 odd, and the quality isn't far off. It's pretty much killed off the industry in Japan where it originated, everything comes from China now. There are mixed views on whether it's a good thing or a bad thing. As for Land Rover, right now 13,000 sales is a good thing in anyone's books.
  15. Electrolysing water, which of course uses electricity. One would have to produce that electricity with 'clean' methods such as nuclear, hydro, geothermal, wind, tidal etc. Hydrogen is also massively abundant, so it's unlikely we'd ever run out. I'm no eco-maniac, if I could afford a big V8 Range Rover then I would have one, but the new technology interests me a fair bit.
  16. http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=2394 Does that thread help at all?
  17. Personally I prefer the concept of the hydrogen fuel cell technology they had on an episode in the last series of Top gear. The idea of having to 're-charge' a car's batteries doesn't sit well with me, I'd much rather just fill it with fuel (hydrogen) in this case.
  18. I think it's something like 'Gulf'.
  19. There's an independant garage near here, or some chain I've never heard of before, and their prices are consistently 5p or so more per litre than Tesco and Asda, both of which are a mile or two up the road. How they ever get any business is beyond me.
  20. Selling a vehicle identity and with non-legal plates....wonderful
  21. Well, not just South Wales, but the journey to and from there as well. Thinking of calling in at Salisbury Plain on the way etc.
  22. A friend and I (also from West Sussex) are planning a weekend's greenlaning in South Wales later in the year, we chose that area due to the high availabilty of some decent lanes.
  23. I just follow what it says in the manual, can't really go wrong with that. Mine comes from Halfords, but only because I get trade prices (which are quite good on oil, filters etc)
