  1. We are using alcohol based mouthwash - single malt. If it gets you, no point in leaving that behind.
  2. Perhaps the handbrake is on? Maybe stuck on even? Or a stuck piston in that caliper?
  3. Crikey, I think you were jolly lucky it didn't just stop.
  4. That's definitely not good Did you get any warning @western? Amazed it kept going!
  5. And of course, if it does come to court, they will only be able to use material previously disclosed under the GDPR request. Otherwise there will be some explaining to do
  6. Yes, A request for the full sized, uncropped, unaltered original full colour copy of the photograph, together with everything else they hold on that vehicle was made to DVLA under the GDPR today. That gives them 30 days from receipt to return everything they have on that vehicle.
  7. Thank you for your support folks. The picture they sent looks like a picture of a photocopy taken through a very mucky screen of something taken with a pinhole camera after a night out. Like I say folks, remove your number plates. Or maybe amend a few letters with some black tape, to be removed before going on the road. I love the vid but I doubt the DVLA will be quite so easy.
  8. Here's the DVLA van taking the picture. The Defender is out of shot beyond the pavement to the left of the picture - they just come up the hill , turn round and go. The location they give suggests right by the van so proving it wasn't anywhere else. I think they have given us a very foggy copy, you can't see the change of surfaces.
  9. I am just putting in a request for the original picture, uncropped, unaltered, full size, full colour, under GDPR
  10. Hi, Well I regret to say we have had a response and not the one I expected. That is the 'evidence' supplied by DVLA, but despite that they are continue to demand money with menaces. I am just putting a reply together plus putting together a package for my MP.
  11. I think some heat will be your friend too, try warming the whole thing up, maybe in an oven?
  12. Just as an aside slightly appalled to see it took Western 19 minutes to come up with those part numbers, usually it's seconds. You must be slipping Ralph! Just joshing
  13. There is an alternative route on the 300tdis - it runs along the bulkhead, then down to the chassis leg. I have changed two in situ, it's easier than the one in the picture, though needs a bit of wrestling, but the OP's master cylinder my well be on that side anyway if it's LHD
  14. If you have a pressure valve on the bulkhead below the master cylinder check that isn't leaking. Mine was, very discreetly, into the wheelarch. Similar symptoms to yours. New valve fixed it.
  15. No,the letter came about 4 days after the van.
  16. Bit of an update. The neighbour realised the CCTV clock was an hour out, so we now have a pic of the DVLA van parked in the road. So as we hadn't heard anything Friday my wife rang them to be told it would take them at least 4 weeks to look at the picture! Whatever picture they took from where the van was should make it obvious the 110 is on our land.
  17. Some of the (metal) tanks have a drain, in the form of a bolt into a threaded boss on the bottom of the tank. It might be possible to release a small amount after it has been allowed to settle for a day or so, and see if any water is drained? It's only a matter of undoing a bolt., which admittedly may be rather stiff. The plastic ones would have to be removed I think to completely drain. The problem with water in the diesel is that it allows the bugs to grow - maybe you could add some biocide pro tem?
  18. As an alternative to 'mechanical adjustment' you might consider one of these. Maybe a bit less invasive.
  19. The response has been sent today. We wait.
  20. Sorn doesn't need renewing these days. The letter even says it's sorned. Yes, we are going for evidence, but since posting one of the neighbours has dug out some CCTV footage, which I hope will be reasonably definitive. It's just who wants the hassle? They will need to do some serious grovelling if I get my way.
  21. Hi, you may be right about the cloning, but the letter states it was in our street, last Saturday, at 10.35am, so I am thinking some of it at least is fiction.
  22. Hi, I have a 110 CSW which is just undergoing a floor replacement - well to be honest it has been for quite a while, scope creep being what it is. It's parked on the drive of our house, but there is no front wall so it is easily visible from the road, but well beyond the pavement, ie on my land. There is currently no floor in it, no battery, the B posts are in tatters, and the new C posts are held to the floor rails with mole grips, pending an improvement in weather to move things on. It is of couse SORNed. The problem is we have just had a letter from the DVLA alleging it has been used or kept on the road, and I have till 3rd March to pay them £559 or go to court. That is a ridiculous accusation considering its current state, and it hasn't even moved for over a year. We will be contesting that fine needless to say, but I suspect it has to be either the result of a camera car picking up the number plate, or a malicious anonymous report being made ( I am not aware of any issues with neighbours, not yet anyway). Either way, my point is that if anyone else is in this position of having a vehicle SORNed, maybe undergoing repair within sight of the road, to avoid similar issues, I would suggest you remove the number plates. (Mods, if this isn't the right place for this feel free to move it)
  23. I have 265/75 16 on 7" rims, no problem. I think that was the minimum size, 8" was the max, but I wanted to be able to fit 235/85 or 255/85 16 if I wanted to.
  24. I'd have a feel of the the turbo shaft - that must be relatively easy to get at , and a prime suspect as a source of the oil.
