  1. 101 cv's will not fit in the 110 swivels, they are smaller than 101 ones. Option 1 worked for me, and if you wanted to make it more permanent someone here coated them in a super hardwearing epoxy paint. G
  2. I have been toying with the idea of getting one of these for my 200, but as usual time is not on my side as its a daily driver and i cannot afford to stay mucking sround trying to get it to work. Having said that, i have played around an allard VNT kit fitted to a 300 of a friend of mine. The manifold is a disco 200 item, and the turbo seems to be similar to the vw one mentioned here (could be 2.8 TGV turbo). The allard kit will happily boost the 300 over 40 psi with the vanes closed, with the actuator connected it keeps boost constant right off from idle up to the FIP governer (set at 25psi, EGT's rocket). What i have found is that with a VNT you get off idle boost, which is good but all that happens is you get quicker up to speed (FIP tweaked). So it might be wise to revise gearing to get the full benefit of a vnt, unless some one is ready to mess with the FIP governer speed. G PS someday i will find the time...........
  3. Not even the stub axles will match, not worth the hassle. G
  4. If you want this you may torrent it from here http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/5392258/Top_Gear_season_1_(full)_avi_eng_jonnoel1 G
  5. Oh yes, had one of those, great fun...........thank god i was only offroading. G
  6. Yep true and correct, drum brake stubs (later ones with same bearings) front hubs and discs from a 110/90 (early ones) G
  7. I always had good results with hammerite but i live in a dryer country. Yes it does chip easily..............especially on the rollcage, but its perfect on the bodywork. Mine is rollered in hammerite, but i must be honest that the new hammerite is not the same as the old one. The damn eu regulations have turned it into rubbish paint. Back to the original question, i do suggest paint, easy to touch up the offroad scrapes and battle scars.................... G
  8. Its a hydraulic ram mounted to the drag link which in tapped into the steering box. G
  9. Re axles, i personally would have gone and found a pair of nissan or toyota axles, already centered, disc braked and with difflocks availble as standard, also much stronger than any rover axle cocktail. G
  10. Probably the trasfer case he is using has a center rear output................... G
  11. Thats a lot of work, i would not make custom axles to be honest, or a body lift. G
  12. I use fuchs renolit mo, its a high load cv lituim joint grease, mixed with ep90, it make a nice thick fluid. The grease is used for packing car cv joints so it should be good in the swivels as well. G
  13. Hmm x2 on the starter unless you have a loose connection somewhere. Mine was doing the same thing but the slow cranking did not turn into a quick crank like yours. I had to sit and wait and try again then it would fire right up. I added the new earth strap and the problem went away. G

Well thats according to how you will drive it. Its a lot of work to fit the lt77, but for me its peace of mind. Many people run series boxes with no ill effects. I had the series box for some years, but i eventually started killing it on a frequent basis. I must admit i used to drive it like a proper holigan, so thats my fault. G

Then it is a cover from a series 2 or 2a. What is the gearbox? g

You need to use a series clutch plate. and any tdi cover plate you wish, even a series one should work. G
  18. Just had your second problem, in my case it was a faulty earth strap. Put a new one directly from the battery to the gearbox, and all is fine. About your first problem, i would guess its air, check the return pipes on the injectors, as i had a similar problem with my dads 110, 300tdi. Found one of the pipes cracked and it sucked air in on starting then leaked ever so slightly while started, was rather difficult to spot, but after i changed the pipe it never did it again. G
  19. My vote is for bosch as well, i have a large 100 amp one, from an unknown doner, wiring connections are lug type. Best upgrade i did, it should be run with twin belts but its been fine with one and fitted to the tdi after the 2.3. Its a tight squeeze but it fits.
  20. Err no, no cutting involved....... just the blower motor.......kept the same matrix box from the series. It is only now that i have a complete 110 unit due to the bulkhead change.
  21. I had fitted one from a 110, moved a bit more air, but still was a bit poor. G
  22. Mine does that after a fuel filter change until it purges the air out. Check for air leaks maybe? G
  23. I doubt it is related, i am using a series 3 barrel and switch. Check the live feed to the switch, it must be something simple. G
  24. Not an expert, but my late 200 loom switches the headlamps on only with the key on the ign position. G
  25. So you are still running a series box?........... must be a very good box or you treat it with love and compassion................... G
