  1. I have a hannibal copy on my Brownchurch. I had to use bars to put it on top of the raised edges of the Brownchurch though as it wont fit within it and if it had, you cant fold it out over the back of the landy and use the bottom skirt on the tent. We are down to 5 mins to put up and 7 mins to pack away.
  2. Thanks Jon. I sent the pump to Bob as preventative maintenance really (it was on about 200k miles at this point) and asked him to set it so the performance was similar to when I sent it to him. The boost pin was set with the deepest profile pointing forwards. When it came back, the performance was pretty much identical to when it left me so I confess I haven't opened it up to look at the pin. Its out of warranty now so I could take a look but don't necessarily need to adjust it as I don't want to produce more smoke. I think its at a point where performance is very goos but more fuel will make it smoke.
  3. Haha. You are right though - plus that disco was smoky as anything - I am not sure I would put that forward for an MOT without turning it down first! It would have been interesting to see the dyno run with just the timing advance on standard fuelling and then the fuel tweaks
  4. This is what I am hoping really. I spend a lot of time on the motorway and with the overdrive engaged that sits me at around 2300-2800 rpm but there isn't much happening if you put your foot down then. I don't want pin me back in the seat sort of acceleration but just a bit more response.
  5. Gosh! Aragorns not posted on here for years... I am slightly interested in your username... my uncle used to have a 2200 and a Wolseley of the same era (unless you work on different land crabs!) I am sure others will know the answer to your post
  6. Interesting stuff. Its mental how much water the mats hold. I am seriously thinking of doing this as drying them out in situ is nigh on impossible!
  7. Isnt there a bmw header tank that will fit with the low coolant sensor fitted? I am sure i have read that somewhere.
  8. I wonder if one of the few decent online land rover parts suppliers might buy up the majority of the kit. I was looking for PDWA valve the other day in case I need to replace mine and the only option is aftermarket Britpart.... not keen.... so I thought I would try Dunsfold and saw the note that they were closed.
  9. It seems like a no brainer to do this really?!
  10. I've tried both ways too and found it a pig of a job whichever! just thought. This might help the OP. Its a disco but essentially the same process as the engines were the same. http://www.discovery2.co.uk/waterpump.html
  11. Great. Looking back at my emails I am sure I discussed a slight timing advance but this is what dieselbob told me he did (in the context of SVO use and better performance): 'the use of stronger seals & a nice (but not silly) improvement to fuel delivery, this has been done without the need to change the boost pin.' I will purchase a spacer from your site Nick and give it a go.
  12. Perfect. Thanks. When the pump was refurbed Bob said a slight timing advance would help as I run on SVO fairly often. Thats as much as I know about how far he advanced it! Otherwise, the pump is standard. I spend a lot of time on the motorway between 2300 and 2800 ish rpm (the overdrive helps keep the revs down) and others seem to suggest there are benefits around these engine speeds. I will give it a go I think.
  13. So a specific question on my pump. I think dieselbob advanced the timing slightly when he reconditioned my FIP. Can I still fit and benefit from one of these spacers?
  14. So the thread that @RRC200Tdi started earlier in which I incorrectly interjected an answer got me thinking. These dynamic timing advance kits (https://stegs4x4.co.uk/product/dynamic-timing-advance-spacer-kit/) seem, according the dyno outputs on @NRS91 's website, provide a decent increase in power output. My pump has been overhauled by DieselBob and setup with what he described as a slight advance on the timing so that it is better suited to run SVO. Will one of these timing advance spacers still be a benefit on my pump? It performs well since the overhaul (did so before) and has had the normal tweaks on the boost pin and slight increase on the pump pressure screw. I would be keen to hear peoples thoughts.
  15. Here - https://fourby.co.uk/epages/950004277.mobile/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/950004277/Products/DTS01&Locale=en_GB
  16. I am pretty sure fourby sell the spacer for this. Might be worth a look? Might be a good place to start?
  17. As above^^^ also, if you are doing anything there (especially if you change the PAS pump) check the PAS pipe on that side of the block. If its the same setup as the disco it chafes against the top of the sump (i think). QH are OEM.
  18. That's pretty much where I am at. Every now and then these conversations arise that are sparked off - in this case by the OP and the heated fuel filter - and they resurrect my interest in 'doing it properly'. I will continue to plan/gather bits (I have the heat exchanger, heated filter head, and a six port Pollack valve already but need to sort a tank) and then I can do it when I have time.
  19. Similar to me currently, but if I know I will use the whole tank in one run I go up to 100%. I do find I get issues if I go into the colder months so tend to stop using veg when it gets sub 5-10C. I just keep wondering if I should install the rest of the gear
  20. Thanks Ralph - Sorry for diverging the threads.
  21. Thats actually quite a lot! If you run ten mins to warm up properly before switching to veg that would easily over flow a brimmed tank!
  22. I looked at that as an idea but I often have passengers so it would take up foot space there unfortunately. The same manufacturers also do a tank that is very hit and miss for a fit in the rear wheel arch of the 110 (opposite side to the existing filler in the big space behind the rear wheel and above the exhaust) and but I think it would be about 4mm too large to fit there from previous measurements. I am leaning towards making my own to fit in there.
