  1. From memory, with great difficulty I seem to recall using a mirror and a torch and cursing quite a lot. Pete.
  2. Ashcroft's will supply an aerosol flushing system with the new box (well they did with mine) which works very well. They also sell it separately click here Pete.
  3. Other than cleaning the oil cooler and pipes (flushing them), I can't think of any thing else at the moment. Pete.
  4. I can highly recommend the Ashcroft option. I would also replace the flex-plate whilst the box is off as they are known to fail (i have had 2 break) and until it is unbolted from the engine you can't always see if it's busted. When I changed the box on mine I didn't change the flex plate and had the thing apart about 6 weeks later as the centre failed leading to a horrible rattle (small bloke, big hammer inside bell housing type noise). Pete
  5. I would suggest risking a filter and fluid change as Range Rover Blues suggests. I would also suggest giving Ashcroft Transmissions a call as they will be able (and willing) to give you definative advice. Pete
  6. Does this occur at / or around a particular road speed or at any speed? Pete.
  7. If your happy with the springs as they stand apart from the ride height, why not just use some spacers to give the extra height. Pete.
  8. Ahh, I see what you were getting at now. I agree the two can definately be interchanged with the correct clamps and bolts. Pete.
  9. Not on the EDC Auto Discovery it's not. Absolutely sure of this having owned a 300TDi Auto Discovery with EDC for a number of years. Pete
  10. To be honest with a small tweak to the mechanical pump I found the performance better without EDC than with (I had driven the Discovery for around a year before I changed to the mechanical pump). Pete.
  11. As you have fuel I would suggest checking the timing, especially as you have fitted a new cambelt. Pete
  12. Have replied to PM The Discovery speedo transducer sadly isn't compatible with the TD5 speedo head. I tried it when I fitted the TD5 instruments in mine and had to buy a TD5 Transducer to make it work. To be honest, as someone who is an electronics engineer and has worked as an Auto electrician I would say their is far less work in converting the fuelling from Electronic to manual than trying to install the EDC into a 90. However if that is what you want to do it shouldn't be to tricky to transfer all the electronics over from the Discovery, I suspect the worst bit will be removing the complete engine loom from the Discovery as it goes to lots of different places in and around the body/dashboard (I ended up cutting lots of it to remove it when I scrapped the Discovery but I was only salvaging the wire for later use not to transfer it to the 90). Some of the immobilisation is controlled by the EDC ECU and some by the 10AS alarm unit. The alarm bit is reasonably easy to bypass if you have access to the RAVE wiring diagrams. I don't know if the EDC uses the speedo input but would suspect it does. Best of luck. Pete.
  13. Arrived yesterday. Looks ok and everything is there, which is good. The body of the gauge is deeper than I was expecting thus possibly limiting mounting options. Might get a chance to install it this weekend. Pete.
  14. Well having just removed the good EGT gauge from mine to stick in the Audi, I have taken a punt on one of these. I will report back. Pete.
  15. Nope, they use the same drive gears as the earlier vehicles but use the electronics instead of a mechanical cable. Pete
  16. Nige, here is a UK supplier of the Recip tyres they list both 285/75x16 and the 305's. http://www.tyresdirectuk.co.uk/xcart/product.php?productid=16822&cat=277&page=1 Pete.
  17. Having seen that ^^^^^^^ . I am impressed and glad that you all got out without injury (apart from the bruises). Well parked that man . Pete.
  18. Hello mate, And there was me going to offer you the doors off mine in exchange for a a set of series doors . When do you want to start pulling the donor to bits? Pete.
  19. This thread:- http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=39385 may help. Pete.
  20. The gauge shown came from McNally Electronics in the states. http://www.mcnallyelectronics.com/boost_psi_egt.htm When I got it they were only about £50 because of the exchange rate. I priced one for my other car the other week and with shipping it came to about £300. Very nice gauge and they now come in other colours. Pete.
  21. The transducer from a discovery will not drive the TD5 dash (I know because I tried it when I converted mine.) So I suspect that the TD5 Transducer won't work with the EDC. I would think the range rover system is probably your best bet but I have no direct experience. Pete.
  22. Hi, sorry missed this yesterday. As stated removing ECU will stop the check engine light being on all the time. you may still see it as you switch off the engine. I changed the pump on mine for the exact same reason, as it was cheaper to go mechanical than fix the electronics. Also it means you can play with fuelling easily (I actually find it performs better with the tweeked mech pump than it did with the EDC working properly) Pete.
  23. Neil, As your new shocks are +50mm I would suggest (regardless of which front springs you use) you invest in a pair of these in +2" guise from Gwyn Lewis. Front shock mounts Pete
  24. I seem to recall that you can unplug the siren on this alarm system and the rest of it (central locking etc) will work with no problems. if am right this will at least allow you to find the fault with out waking the neighbours My memory may be a bit flaky on this as it is a few years since I had my Discovery (also a 1996 300TDi) Pete.
