  1. I have been using Brit-car for a couple of years now and have nothing but praise for Duncan, (just be prepared for a long chat if he is having a quiet day.) I recently used LRSeries for the first time and although I did get all the parts I ordered, one part took over a month to come and the communications were less than ideal, I will also probably not be using them in the future. Pete.
  2. You can fit a different propshaft with conventional flanges either end (200tdi discovery will definately fit) but you will have to change the flange on the diff. This thread may help :- Click Here Pete.
  3. Glad it passed To be fair in that time it has actually had 2 chassis swaps and we have also patched up my old Discovery a few times and then converted my 90 to 300TDi and Auto box and almost finished rebuilding the 109 (next to be tested) Pete. It didn't look that muddy when I walked the dog passed it earlier
  4. James, The closest to an AT I could find in 255.85X16 is the Cooper Discoverer ST :- Click Me I have had this set on both the Discovery and now the 90 and they seem to handle reasonably well in all conditions and are wearing well. Pete
  5. Discovery 1 and range rover ones look like this :- Click Here Part number :- ANR 2938 Pete
  6. Here's my 90 with 255/85/16's on silver modular wheels, standard suspension etc. Pete
  7. The swagelok tool will give absolutely perfect bends (I used to use one for installing specialist gas lines using 316 stainless.) As you say pricey. It may pay to do a search for one made by Parker as they used to be cheaper and nearly as good. Pete.
  8. would that be these :- Clicky Taken from this thread :- Clicky Pete.
  9. As Bogmonster says, changing the transfer box will only effect the high range (on road) gearing, so in low range it will still feel like it doesn't have enough engine breaking going down steep hills. I found that the 1.4:1 ratio defender box returned the gearing to almost standard when running 33" tyres, making it much nicer to drive on road. I will ultimately be going for different Ring/Pinion ratio and returning to the 1.2:1 ratio transfer box so as to get the gearing correct in both high and low. Pete.
  10. Absolutely agree, but the o/p was talking about holding a welding stick in a jump lead clip, so not exactly a restoration type situation. It may also be able to get a couple of lenses cut in a darker shade for not a lot of dosh. It would probably be possible to get a couple of replacement lenses for a cheap mask and get a local glass cutter to cut them. Pete.
  11. As for eye protection :- How about something like this ,ok they are for gas welding but they are reasonably cheap and small enough to stash in the vehicle easily. Pete.
  12. I believe Discovery 2 (TD5) wheels won't fit either, but adapters are available, I also think that they are different fitting to the Discovery 3 ones as well. It is also worth noting that P38, and newer Range Rover wheels wont fit straight on either.
  13. Those wheels will not fit straight on to a Discovery1, you may be able to get some adapters to allow them to fit however. Pete.
  14. Indeed, well done. Nick and team. Pete.
  15. I agree, I see no need for a witty slogan. people who know what the site is, will recognise a fellow user, Those who are interested but don't know what the site is, can look us up. Those who aren't interested aren't going to be moved by a slogan. Pete
  16. There is a large nut behind the locating pin for the roto-flex, this may not be tight. I would however expect there to be an oil leak if the flange is loose. This thread :- Click Here shows how to get it. The nut does have a torque setting but I can't seem to find it at the moment. Pete. editted to add :- Found the torque setting:- 130Nm (about 96 ft.lbs).
  17. randomly post things like this is hardly going to endear yourself to others. also have a read of this :- Click here as I suspect part of the reason you have not had a reply to your questions is that your post don't immediately appear as you will be on mod approval. all the best Pete.
  18. Nige, I would lose the 'best tech x far bit' if it was me. I think it just makes the logo cluttered. Pete.
  19. I used to have a mudpod in my Discovery:- Nicely made bit of kit. I drilled and tapped the inlet manifold on mine but to be honest it doesn't read any differently when plumbed into the waste gate pipe work. Pete.
  20. I use photobucket to store the pictures and then once the pictures are loaded do the following :- hover over the required picture on photobucket and a box will appear tick the tickbox in the box, scroll to bottom of the page and click on 'Generate HTML and IMG code' button. Scroll down the new page that appears to the box labelled 'IMG codes for message board' copy the text in the box, then come back to LR4x4 and paste into reply. you picture should appear like this :- HTH Pete
  21. Could I have a copy too! Thanks Pete.
  22. I was just looking into this my self and came across this Pump that say's it can be used as a diesel lift pump. Pete
