  1. Yes indeed people, your caring and sharing Labour(ious) government has excelled once again. As they obviously never made any money from taxing CB'ers they dropped that and have maoved on to VHF instead. Problem is, that a lot of voluntary not to mention charity funded organisations such as Mountain Rescue and Lowland SAR, not forgetting the 4x4 Response groups rely on VHF for their comms. If you feel able, then please sign the petition http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/LSAR-RF-LICENSES/ TIA
  2. I use Camskill Tyres who do all sorts of sizes and patterns at incredibly competitive prices. No connection btw, other than a very satisfied customer.
  3. Probably everyone is still in shock at your plans for such a rare beast!
  4. I've got far too many to choose from so you have a look Shed's Gallery
  5. Err they will run fine with the front prop off. Both my mate and I have run several hundreds of miles with our Borg Warner T/Boxes only working the back end. his was manual and mine auto. No worries.
  6. I read in LRM about the stop/start stuff. That's quite good in town i'd say.
  7. All depends on year and model. Earlier k series ran 10w/40 in the main box apparently so make sure you have it right.
  8. Depends what you want to fit it too, but most modern vehicles use a take off from the alternator nowadays.
  9. As the size is so close I bought 225/75 x 16 KL71's for 71 quid each delivered. Approx 10 mil narrower and 10 mil higher: Like I say, close enough. No cleaarance issues with modulars on and 2" lift either (but that's on the Disco) so RR will have no worries.
  10. Assuming we are talking about the 300 Tdi lump, you can change just the idler bearing and they were less that a fiver. Some people get a slot milled in the pulley while it's apart to make getting the circlip out a bit easier. Bearing number is 6203 2RS1
  11. Well I hope you have better luck that thhe one i bought from them: Leaks like a sieve after 13 months! Not a happy bunny at all.
  12. Not to go too far OT but I had a 1990 Classic with the 4M40 that was previously also converted in Bristol. Never did find out their name. I would have gone and asked for the 3.9 back as it would have been better on fuel!
  13. Was chatting to the guys in the garage next door to work yesterday. They were trying to get a R plate Freebie on one of their ramps but it was rear steering. Appears the customer had been hearing a clonking and assumed the shocks wanted replacing. After a few miles he was having to drive along with lock on all the time. When they got it back to the workshop (after having to chain the RH hub asembly back) it seems the threaded arm with the lock nuts on behind the hub had slid out of its sleeve! There was no thread left inside the adjusting sleeve at all! One to watch out for perhaps.
  14. I hope you are sat down mate! RTC308 - GBP 8.34 plus tax. Available from Paddocks http://www.paddockspares.com/pp/RANGE_ROVE...or_PAS_box.html HTH
  15. Usually yes, but it was called something else yesterday when it dumped all it's coolant on the floor before the driving day had even started The boy's too tight to buy a water pump for the poor old thing. Cruelty to HAG - It's not big and it's not clever
  16. Sorry Jim, I have to agree with Steve. Autodata make no mention of inector pump sprocket removal, so I would imagine it's stealer time.
  17. What info do you need Jim? I have Autodata disk with 20T 97-00 timing belt details.
  18. That's fine, we thank you for your understanding
  19. I think I like this new test thingy. It's going to stop people disfiguring my favourite vehicle somewhat. Happy days!
  20. I'm sure there are some out there that would
  21. Why on earth wasn't it clamped down? People wouldn't even get to drive our site without something as basic as that being sorted before scrutineeriing, and we'd probably go through the vehicle with a fine tooth comb if that was the level of basic maintenance.
  22. I think they are, as one of our members has one in his 90 c/w 4 speed auto. he had a couple of questions and fairly certain they were helpful enough.
  23. Well unless they renumbered the cylinders for later engines, which I'd doubt, it's the second one from the front on the left hand side (that's viewed from inside the cabin btw). 7 5 3 1 > 8 6 4 2 >
  24. Just a word about 'netiquette' Gandy, if I may. Capitals or upper case type is considered as shouting on forums. Please check your caps lock is off for a nicer posting. Much cheers
