  1. if i were you id be tempted to put a set of temporary crossbraces across the main arpeture until you fit the door just incase as you dont want a case of de-ja-vu
  2. not on a roadgoing vehicle, but for our uni off road buggy project we used a clio steering rack with a live beam axle, mounted the rack to the axle itself and used a slip joint on the steering column. never had an issue with it and it eliminated all posibilities of bump steer as the rack and axle were always in the same place relative with each other.
  3. nice, i guess to a certain extent, the softness of the spring that is the very cause of wrap, would also be what allows the anti wrap bar to work without binding up. i.e. im sure the axle will rotate slightly as it cycles up and down.
  4. i agree FF, also use the parts book during a rebuild its great for creating a shopping list without actually going outside. especially useful if you havent taken it apart yet and its rarely "wrong"
  5. well of course they will be seemingly over engineered and heavy if they are robust its just the circle of life, or something
  6. just print RAVE off then, mind, might take a while and a bit of ink!
  7. sounds very hinteresting FF look forward to seeing any pics
  8. when i get home ill see if i have that on a PDF version im sure i do!
  9. its definately worth looking at your fuel return lines and also all unions and connectors. i had a similar problem for months on my old 2.25N/A i eventually gave up on it and parked it up, only to find out after that one of the banjo unions for the return had cracked, introducing air into the system i know that its after your fuel filter change, and seemingly should have been happening before if that was the problem. but once there is a little air in i found that it helped the system introduce much more air in than when the crack was there and there was no air in. so it would definately be worth checking all your injection return lines and unions, i would also reccomend cracking off the injection lines at the injector with it running to bleed that last little bit, can make all the difference (sorry if i am telling you how to suck eggs)
  10. why not just fit a more modern ifor drum system? for what they are i dont personally see the need for disks on a trailer. drums ought to last longer between shoe replacements and generally arent an issue for the most part.
  11. for me no programme has gotten close to anything Mark Evans has done. although at least with for the love of cars, they seem to take care to do it all properly!
  12. loving the special tool you have used although i normaly slit the inner race as much as possible and then crack it with a chisel. wish i had a 20T press too!!
  13. 103 isnt its top limit i cant tell you that! although must be close
  14. watched the one on sunday night. always wanted a MKI escort it must be almost number 1 in my dream garage (obviously level with a green oval product) cant wait for this weeks one!
  15. +1 for a TDS i have one on the series great winch!
  16. glad you managed to save it for the most part. the views look stunning and at least now like you say you have chance to make whatever hindsight changes that you wished you had put in the origional shed. cant wait to see it progress!
  17. you will never look back! one of those things where you dont know how you coped without before you had one
  18. whats your rear prop length looking like with that setup so far back? looks like there isnt too much intrusion into the cab area
  19. What i meant that it would probably be unneccesary to terminate the welds in the Y configuration. its used to spread the stress from the end of a weld across a larger area rather than a single stop point. i use it often on plant machinery and would have been tempted to do the same on the axle although just a standard weld came out the factory so the same should suffice here! The amount of projects i have been so careful and accurate about only to have one small mistake put the whole thing out of whack. it happens to everyone sooner or later!
  20. every time i look back i just think 1.2 scale evoque.. thats all lol and the rear lights look very "mondeo"
  21. i know they do that kind of mad stuff out there all the time, like changing the tyre on a land cruiser whilst its going along on 2 wheels at highway speeds... but.. just... why???
  22. was just literally watching the video on that. i wonder if it will actually be that clear in the real world?
