  3. I agree there is more to it, but the article states billing refused to comment which doesn't help. I suspect it was something like there was a tip off of a criminal element but it sounds like it was handled badly and will only hurt the show more in the long run. Mike
  4. The one I have in the roof of the ibex is a trailer bungee luggage net, it works well but I had to double up on the bungee cord as the squares were a bit big. The 110 has a cheap eBay special hanging on one side it's good enough to throw coats in but I doubt it would take much more. Mike
  5. Seems a bit extreme, I'd be interested to know the other side of that story. Let's face it the whole billing show turned into a complete mess a few years ago when it got split in two and it hasn't got better. This may kill it for good. Mike
  6. Definitely looks like the head gasket was going. If the engine is a potential keeper then I'd get the head skimmed and checked. If it needs to be back on the road quick or you don't need the expense I'd clean it up new head gasket and off you go. I've cleaned up plenty worse than that and put them back together but I normally need them the next day and I can't afford the extra expense. Mike
  7. We run 255 bfg km2's on the wife's 110. Personally I've never seen the point of all terrain's, the muds are fine on road if a little noisier (not that you can hear anything in a land rover). You either need muds or road tyres will surfice. Mike

  13. I made a fibreglass hard top for a 110 double cab and a hard top for a soft top ibex. Both were made with a temporary mould to achieve a one off roof. Feel free to pm me If you want help and advice with fibreglass (I've done more than my fair share of car work and build boats for a living). Mike
  14. Have you been using the spacer? I fitted one, it failed in two years. When I went to fit the next it was exactly the same however it came with a spacer, I fitted it and this time it's lasted a lot longer. My conclusion is whilst they do fit without the spacer it over stresses the arm or diaphragm thus causes failures. Mike
  15. I third a build thread, I find Facebook disjointed and generally horrible for build threads. Unless you know someone or happen across one it's hateful and even then you'll never find it a second time. Mike
  16. I assume you need better contact if so are you aware there is a plate that bolts to the swivel to give a flat surface for the bolt to hit. I believe it was only fitted on a few models but was readily available last time I looked. Mike
  17. It's veneers of walnut, teak, mahogany, maple and cherry. All glued together at 45° then cut out using two holesaws, shaped by hand then dipped in epoxy. Mike
  18. I proposed to my now wife with a homemade engagement ring, I even made the box. In fact several of our friends and family have received homemade birthday gifts over the years, I guess I set a trend. Mike
  19. I may well be interested as the one I have is technically a spare for the 110 for exactly that reason. Mike
  20. I've got the complicated part of the PTO in the fwd facing one and I can either adapt that to rear facing or attach to the main shaft. The tricky bit will be mounting the winch low enough and getting drive to it, but until it gets here and I can throw a tape at it I won't know how viable it all is. Worst case is I sell the lot and just get another electric winch. Mike
  21. The worm definitely needs to stay at the bottom. I've not got the winch yet so until it arrives I don't know what I can do with it. I'll keep your PTO in mind mind I've still got to find the one I have as it's in a post house move box somewhere. Mike
  22. A rear facing PTO would be ideal if I could find/afford one. I think I can either use the chain drive and switch it front to rear or chop the drop part off and mount the shaft to the back if the overload clutch. I'll also need to switch the input from one side to the other on the winch and I'm not sure if rotation will need reversing. Mike
  23. It will require a fair bit of machining and some fabrication I suspect. If I can't make a workable solution I'll just sell the lot as a complete kit and bang another electric in there. Mike
  24. My winch (ep9) has never been quite right but recently the brake spears to jam on or not hold. I've enquired about new brake arrangement but been told they haven't made them for years. Now our 110 has a fairey 525 PTO winch and it's phenomenal I love it. What if I could do this in the ibex....... I've got a PTO drive but it faces forward and hopefully I've got a superwinch PTO winch and shafts coming. Once it's all here I'm going to look into the viability....... Mike
