  1. A few more posts to go..... Time delays aren't that bad surely...
  2. Not many places selling the enhanced fuels around me.... And.. My recollection of the premiums per litre would make it more than the £1.50 per tank the additive cost... I'll do a few tanks without additive to make sure it's cleared through the system and maybe try a few V-power tanks..... If no immediate difference I'll be back to boggo Tesco.....
  3. As I said I would..... Recent MPG results.... Not doing anything out of the ordinary.. Some trips I get bored and push it around a bit and others I'm quite content to sit on cruise control at 60.... I'll continue now without additive and see how it goes... I "think" the engine was smoother a low rpm and revved a little better when pushed.. But now I have to figure if it was my imagination... Was it worth £1.50 per tank extra... Only the next few tanks will tell...
  4. I found comments about using Wurth studs (Mercedes parts) and bought some for approx. £15 from Eblag when I changed mine. They are longer and I could only get a spanner on some so it takes a little longer but hopefully now they are on for the life of the engine. Something like these.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-TD5-UPRATED-WURTH-MANIFOLD-STUDS-X10-AND-COPPER-NUTS-X10-/300912829481?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item460fcd6429 Neil
  5. Pictures taken by Stuart when he found the problem....
  6. Also worth checking the loom over the gearbox... Friend recently had similar and when directed under the car he found a few wires worn through the loom. Accessed from inside with a little bit of effort. He soldered them back up, insulated, put some armour around the loom and fixed it firmly to the gearbox to avoid future rubbing.....
  7. When I bought my 4.6 from Pod we had one hex bolt that span.... Adrian drilled the head off and removed the flywheel.... The bolt then span by hand as it was the pressure of the bolt head on the flywheel that was doing all the gripping !!! With flywheel off there is quite a lot of bolt to get hold of I seem to recall....
  8. Sean, Change your fuel filter before you change the pump.. Made an amazing difference to mine...
  9. Baz... My winch is off the truck at the moment so can't measure for you just now... You're not too far away.. If you are down in the Royston area it wouldn't take long to whip your bumper off and offer up my winch bumper to see how it looks etc. Drop me a PM if you want to play.... Not sure if this helps.... Neil
  10. I had a transparent one from Allmakes that split.... Replacement was good and had a black one (Still in the garage) as a potential spare. Ali versions are a great alrernative but lack the visibility of seeing a water level when the bonnet is open. Horses for courses.....
  11. I have a First Four tubular shadow jobbie for aircon model. Excellent bit of kit and without amends to the grill the winch fits flush to the grill.... (As my diseasel has aircon etc)
  12. Sorry, for clarity.... Standard diesel will be the same in Supermarkets & Majors... Premium diesel derivatives will be different.
  13. Unfortunately James Tesco can't just shop around. They are the biggest fuel retailer in the UK, probably selling in excess of 100 million litres per week!!! It all a very closely scheduled business so they and the majors need to plans to refine, store and land the product into the UK to an expected level of demand. With each tanker carrying 35000 litres or so they cannot shop around... Really guys, its all the same stuff.
  14. Well based on this thread I've bought a bottle of the Miller additive as I keep track of MPG on every tank. Ill report back in a few weeks after several tanks have gone through... Neil
  15. All supermarkets buy from the Major Oil refiners, from the same tanks as their own stocks, with the same additives etc. Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda & Morrisons all historically also bought from the independant producers like Statoil, Futura etc. so none of the Supermarkets were totally dependant on the big oil companies. I don't know if this has changed since my last involvement in the industry. In the majority of cases, the fuel in the supermarkets will be from the same tanks as the majors.
  16. Mmm.... Checking the rules Nige.... "posts must meet at least one of the following criteria: Must be technical in nature. 4x4 or offroad related. Of benefit to the membership." May have scraped in with point 2 but dubious.. In the corner again please young man..... Neil
  17. I set mine up parallel / no toe out as well Daan. I fund it gives even tyre wear and as you comment, no twitchy steering or wandering. Neil
  18. Richard, If you want to pop up to the farm one weekend and pop your truck on the ramp you can check the distance between front and rear of the front rims the way I do.... With some brasing wire.... This will at least tell you if you have ano toe out or in and can adjust it out. It may also make it easier to measure between specific points as you can just walk around under the truck.. Neil
  19. I recently got DMF & Clutch kit (Valeo) for just under £400. Thankfully I was able to secure the services of Les Henson to do the work for me..... Neil
  20. Wow... I had a camera in the windscreen all of the trip to Spain last year.... It wasn't running most of the time but it was very visible.... (Good news we had Chris volunteering to be pulled over instead of me or Mo.....) Not taking the camera there again then.....
  21. Looking good Barry.... (You sure it's Dodger?) So, who's going to be first with the production install?
  22. He does elektrikery that Star Trek would be proud of Mo...... I get humble just being in the room.... If I understand 3 out of 10 words from Mr Wabbit when he's talking his trade I'm chuffed at myself.. And he has two fantastic dogs....... Little Bodger (Did I get it right?) is such a happy bouncy chap.....
  23. Jason, I've got to know you reasonably well over the last year. You are a great person who cares for others, has impeccable values and I will continue to support you, Shally and the kids in what ever way I can. Never be afraid to ask and never assume the answer would be no. Your public admissions of your illness only make my desire to help you stronger and I truly wish you all the best. I will head down to see you whenever you are ready.... If it's just for a chat and a cup of Tea, get out for a drive or re-build the Land Rover for therapy.... Call.
  24. Andy & Martin know not to offer me anything in a blue Box.... Martin positively loves ribbing me about it and always gives be a bigger Britpart box to carry the parts home in....
