  1. Just done this with the help of Sir Les of Hensonshire...... As others have mentioned, make sure the loom on the back of the engine is suspended above the bell-housing when refitting... Also, un-clip the loom from the top of the gearbox before separating the engine and gearbox. Make sure you disconnect the crank shaft sensor..... They are quite delicate items and come apart quite easily... (Don't ask me how I know...) I used a Valeo clutch kit with new spigot bush. Use new flywheel to crank bolts and wise to get new nuts that hold the pressure plate to DMF. While it was all apart we also noticed the clutch slave seeping... It was replaced. I'm lucky enough to have a ramp so we dropped the gearbox and transfer back from the engine... Far easier for me when compared to pulling the engine out and losing all my gas in my air-con.... Neil
  2. CJ1.... Weekend of 9th Feb and 16th Feb not suitable for me due to prior commitments. Neil
  3. All depending on when the help is arranged for, I may be able to attend and assist where possible. As Nige says above... Can you advise us what the vehicle is and what needs doing please. Regards Neil
  4. I've been using the quick dab on the end for one wash too... Good to know it seems to be standard.... Great simple mod.. Now to re-wire the rear and put the intermittent relay from the front into the back.... (I think that makes sense..) Neil
  5. Takes approx. 10 miles / 10 mins for mine to get to temp.....
  6. I ran the last set of GKN's in my 4.6 for over 20k miles and it was still running strong when I sold it... Looked at the plugs when I did the cam etc. and gapped them but that was all that I did to them in over 20k miles.... Sounds like suggestions above may be worth considering. Neil
  7. Great day, gallantly led by Steve. Thanks for the company Steve and Mo and look forward to the next day out... Have to confess to really enjoying the day but pretty pooped now... Clearly not on top form yet... Neil
  8. Remember 2 Tonnes of truck has a lot of momentum and in snow a lot less traction / braking ability.... Snow chains are not a mircale cure... Always proceed with caution.
  9. Good to hear you have it sorted Steve... Neil
  10. Turn axle upside down weld mounts on the other side and rotate the engine 180 degrees to fit in the back will sort the problem... If thinking of leaving engine facing forwards it'll be a little more complex.... Neil
  11. They don't know you well enough.... Where is the A&E kit and "self operation kit" ?
  12. Oh dear..... Don't drive like an idiot and pull away slowly in a higher gear etc. and you get the same result. or better still, if concerned, buy a set of winter tyres to use from October / November to March...
  13. Just bare gaskets on the exhaust ports.. They get a tad hot.... Further down the exhaust use exhaust paste. Don't use silicon in any part of the engine air intake system. It will cause issues with your lambda sensor. There are lots of good silicon free gasket alternatives for plenum etc. Neil
  14. Crowbar... Can you not type all in Caps please. On the Internet this is effectively shouting ! Also, one message asking questions politely would have probably been better than 4... Regardless, welcome to LR4X4.. Here's hoping the membershio can help you with your questions. Neil
  15. Happy Christmas to you all.... Be good to hear what you Land Rovers got for Christmas.... Neil
  16. Looks good Pux... Good to see you back. Neil
  17. You have to squeeze the handles together to set the Rivnut. Therefore you need reasonably good strength in your hands. Neil
  18. I've got a similar Sealey version. If you have a good grip it works fine.... Neil
  19. I got one similar to Si R... Works really well and simple in terms of getting location in text response. It can be linked to systems for tracking but it may be just as simple to text it each time you want a location fix and post the location in a blog. I also recall Fridge Freezer sorted tracking for their Russian jaunts...
  20. Has to be true.... Show me the cat!!! See.... It's gone!!!
  21. Sounds very much like UJ's... Pull the props off and check properly... You could probably confirm by greasing them properly, but if chirping now and it goes when grease added you are on a clock.. They are already wearing. If the grease proves the point, change them. Neil
  22. Is it part number 7 in this diagram you are referring to ?? Neil
  23. Thanks for the ideas... Last tank (Journey home) was from Esso. I usually use Esso near home if Im not getting 5p of a litre at Tesco... Fuel filter changed approx. 1,000 miles ago... Was Sh*tepart but now Fram. Was changed because fuel pump was very noisy. Now quiet / similar to others I've heard. I've got oil finding it's way to the ECU but have done Si's suggestion of Vaseline. I was going to replace the injector loom in January so maybe I'll do the injector seals and copper washers as well while the top is off. I'll check all connections next time I see the truck in daylight. This morning it started first time. This evening I started the truck immediately after stopping it. Fired on the first turn. After an hour it also started first time. Will see how things go for the rest of the week an report anything I think worthy of note in here. (I'll also keep an eye on oil level....) "the problem was the little bleeding valve in the filter case" It this the little screw in valve in the bottom of the fuel filter or elsewhere??? Anything else?? Neil
  24. No other suggestions?? Was on the first turn up to Saturday evening.... Did my engine just get officially old??
