  1. if you can find somewhere to spray weld it that would work but to be honest its probably going to be cheaper to get a new one. I'm currently looking for somewhere to do my output flange off my trans box. Once i've found somewhere i will post in the forum as i have at least two items i need doing. Another trick is spiral welding but i guess this is just as expensive. Both involve a weld in one way or another and turning back to a good finish. Be aware i've had some shoddy output flanges delivered so i can't see the Britpart stubs being any better although the fronts (pattern but not sure of make)i've seen in the local part place looked OK. I'd buy over the counter so to avoid the chance of a return and the hassle. Ring Brit-Car and ask what they look like, they're a good bunch so will sort you out.
  2. Actually the camping mat stuff is a good idea, cheap and light. Do you have some photos? What adhesive did you use? I see you can get in in big sheets so thats great. Did you use 6mm or 12mm? The sheet flame retardant so thats a plus and as you say you can coat it in something a little harder. Thanks
  3. Thanks VM. Is the neoprene stuff heavy as i need to keep weight down?
  4. Thanks badger. Any pointers at supplers for the Dinghie stuff. Google isn't playing ball.
  5. The member who helped me was satisfied the penetration was good. The rig was set correcty for 3mm plate and I ran about 6 inch of test weld on the bench before I did this to practice on some 3mm. The only issue was the weld running a bit which is difficult to avoid. I was relying on him to let me know and he was happy with it albeit the weld did run. Its not pretty but it passed the hammer test on the first run. Now i'm no expert but it looked reasonable to me, not great, but good enough for both of us. Hybrid has me worried, and me doubting us both !
  6. I agree its not pretty. The end that was used to pin it on survived a lump hammer to bend the rest of the plate into position to follow the curve of the chassis.
  7. LMAO. they actually promote it for barns. I hope they got their money back. No mice in my 110,,, only birds.
  8. Thanks to another forum member i've just welded this up this afternoon. Many Thanks to him. :D My welding wasn't too bad considering its 23 years since i did it and i was upside down. My rear output flange is still leaking though, so not quite MOT time.
  9. So it tuns out all the output flanges from Britpart are just the same. I've arranged a refund. Hopefully i can get a used part from somewhere. As i'm off for a drive today with the pited one fitted i hope i don't loose too much oil.
  10. deffo going. Not sure the LR will be going though. If it has an MOT then maybe for a run. What day i go depends on the missus. If she's working then weekend if not i might go down Friday. If i go in the LR then i'll be the one you pass on the M1 broken down on the HS.
  11. It seems to set pretty smooth but you're right it could be a disaster. I wasn't planning on covering it but then again its only an idea at the moment.
  12. Has anyone seen this done. Theres a local place that does boats and roofs and the like. Do you think it would make a good substitute? On LRaddict there's a Guy in Alberta thats done it on his POP roof. Just wondered it anyones seen it in the UK. TA
  13. Buy a recon/used one. They are £70. I wouldn't botch it i'd do it by replacement. Not sure what P&P is to Euroland though. Its a big lump of iron.
  14. i got red/red and red/green on mine and i still have the leveller on (for now as its comning off soon). Not done a lot of running round yet but it seems fine. Bit high on the rear but mines going to be loaded up.
  15. Also pretty easy to change IMHO. Theres a good manual on rebuilding a box. Link to manual.
  16. I know i just gave up on trying to remove my rubber steel bushes. Unless you work somewhere with a rather large press you just can't get em out. I'm sure once you have the polybushes in they are easy to change. As i understand it they need to be cos they don't last.
  17. here you go. Standard Springs and HD springs. Spring Info
  18. now thats experience or knowledge. Either way, impressed i am ! Noted for my trip and praying it never happens to me. I will be carrying a spare head gasket.
  19. These are the links. You seem to have done them incorrectly. http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/Motorsport/Air_Filters_&_Accessories/Ducts_&_Ducting_Hose/Revotec_Flexible_Ducting_Hose/1687/3538 and http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=78&st=20
  20. Welcome. You'll now have 20 people round each day wanting free beer.
  21. Me too. Straight to Brit-Car. But LRS's banned me anyhow. Also found Mailorder4x4 and Island4x4 to be good... Islands pricing inc VAT and free delivery with good customer service is noteworthy.
  22. I just dropped my trolly jack on my foot. Better that way round than the thing it was about to lift.... @Wayne, Golly ! and i will sell all eventually. @Mickey, its at the bottom of a long list. No idea if its working or not but i now have HD on the back so it should technically come off. Eventually.
  23. If you can make me a 110 POP roof with sleeping area you can easily have £1000 of my money plus materials. Considering they cost about £6000 thats a bargain.
