I thought Mr Yak had a Tdi which has a mechanical lift pump. Mo -

Yup, 2.4 has a fuel pick up and gauge float assembly. Mo -
Defender fuel tank leaks - better replacement yet?

If it were me i would go for a secondhand 2.4 puma plastic tank which will hopefully come with its original fuel pick up, suitable for use with a Tdi rather than a pump (used on Td5 and 2.2 puma). Saves pennies π HTH Mo -
Lof are shortly going to be selling a converter to use the Defender abs double diaphragm servo unit on a non abs car. https://lofclutches.com/shop/brakes/brake-kits/coming-soon-lof-powerboost-servo-kit-for-non-abs-defender/ I'm trying lof pads on the back at the moment and although the fronts (genuine and seemingly last forever) do most of the work, I was quite surprised at the improvement in braking over the previous mintex pads. V8 - Engine Cutting Out & Coolant Boiling

No pain no gain The more you drive it the greater the fuel saving, eroding the savings made by fitting a v8 π -
200 / 300 TDi boost ring (dynamic timing advance)
Mo Murphy replied to Peaklander's topic in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)
Ps don't buy the fuelling pins off a well known ebayer, they're carp! Not hardened and you can get better fuelling with the original Land Rover pin. Mo -
V8 - Engine Cutting Out & Coolant Boiling
Mo Murphy replied to Mediamab's topic in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)
V8s are so last year ! What you need is a nice German 6 pot diesel with a 6 or 8 speed autobox π more power as standard, loads more torque and better mpg π¬ Just saying Mo -
200 / 300 TDi boost ring (dynamic timing advance)
Mo Murphy replied to Peaklander's topic in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)
I used a dynamic timing advance ring on my 200. It was excellent, smoothing out engine vibration at high revs on the motorway. I'd absolutely recommend π @92a had my injection pump after I stripped the 200 and he seemed very happy with it ! Mo -

OK Andy With the M57 and 6 speed auto the gearbox / transfer box mounts will go in the same place they are now which allows you to keep your propshafts. The engine mounts go where they land once your back end is located. I've used House of Torque (who are really supportive of the conversion community) for all parts excepting the mounts and adapter which were out of stock at the time and were sourced from MW (who are not). https://mwmachines.co.uk/shop/m57n-6-speed-automatic-engine-mount-kit This is a really nicely engineered and fabricated kit, easy to fit and works well using 300tdi rubbers. Select pre 300 and bolt on gearbox mounts in the drop down menus. I do have a build thread in the Members Vehicle section. HTH Mo

Pneumatic diff lock high/low operation

Thanks crewcab, I went with disco 2 cable hi/lo and vacuum operated diff lock. Your list is an excellent resource for someone else ! Mo -
More fuel burning = higher temps. A bigger intercooler will help keep temperatures lower. There is anecdotal evidence that for every 1Β° intake temp reduction you will get a 10Β° EGT reduction. I have seen a marked reduction going from a standard intercooler to a large intercooler. HTH Mo

ibex 300 build
Mo Murphy replied to miketomcat's topic in Modified Vehicle Builds & Special Projects
That's true John, I'm not advocating merely offering information. However Mike did ask the question about other engines and not about 200 TDIs π¬ π Personally I think home rebuild of the 200 is probably Mike's only option given his budget but it is a time consuming job and an enormous ballache to have to commit to. ibex 300 build
Mo Murphy replied to miketomcat's topic in Modified Vehicle Builds & Special Projects
... but I did end up adding a front locker, a complete stainless exhaust and an Ashcroft recon transfer box that I hadn't counted on π€£ The 184bhp m57 small bellhousing from a Rangy will work with an R380 or an Mt82 but will require a conversion ring IIRC. ECU deimmobilising, a standalone harness, engine mounts and an exhaust downpipe. House of Torque have some really good guides and sell conversion parts on their website. You'd probably get it all in for the price of a 200 rebuild by turners. HTH Mo -
